How much creatinine needs dialysis depends on the situation

How much creatinine needs dialysis depends on the situation

If the creatinine level is high, it means that the kidneys are severely damaged. At this time, dialysis should be performed. However, the exact amount of creatinine required for dialysis still needs to be decided based on the patient's actual situation. Therefore, if you are sick, you must follow the doctor's instructions for treatment.

The level of creatinine reflects the degree of kidney damage to a certain extent. Once the blood creatinine rises, it indicates that the kidney has entered the stage of renal insufficiency. Clinically, it is divided into four stages according to the creatinine index.

Stage 1: Compensatory renal function, serum creatinine (Scr) between 133 and 177 μmol/L (2 mg/dl)

Stage II: Renal insufficiency (decompensation) Serum creatinine (Scr) rises to 177 μmol/L (2 mg/dl) or above

Stage III: Renal failure (renal failure) Serum creatinine (Scr) rises to 442 μmol/L (5 mg/dl) or above

Stage IV: End-stage uremia with serum creatinine (Scr) rising to above 707 μmol/L

Since serum creatinine is less affected by diet, it can better reflect glomerular function than blood urea nitrogen. During the compensatory stage of renal insufficiency, blood creatinine can be completely normal. Blood creatinine will only increase when 70% of renal function is lost. Therefore, blood creatinine is not an early indicator for determining renal function damage and decreased glomerular filtration rate. How high does creatinine need to be before dialysis is needed? When patients are in the stage of renal failure, they often experience severe edema and nausea. Dialysis can be chosen to relieve symptoms, but dialysis is not an effective method for treating renal failure and uremia. It can only temporarily relieve the symptoms of high creatinine, and does not fundamentally solve the problem of high creatinine. Long-term use has serious side effects, and once the patient stops taking it, the creatinine value will rise rapidly and will be higher than the previous creatinine value.
