What are the causes of knee pain

The knee is the connecting point between our thigh and calf, and is also an important link. If you experience swelling and pain in your knees, you should go to the hospital for a check-up in time and do not perform treatments such as acupuncture on your own. Scientific treatment will provide more guarantees.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the causes of osteoarthritis are as follows:

1. Liver and kidney deficiency: Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the kidney stores essence and controls bones; the liver stores blood and controls tendons. When the kidney essence is sufficient and the liver blood is full, the tendons and bones are strong and the joints are flexible. When people reach middle age and old age, their physiological functions decline, and the liver and kidney essence and blood are insufficient, resulting in the loss of nourishment for the tendons and bones. Over time, bone and joint diseases are prone to occur.

2. External pathogens: Weak internal organs and weak defenses allow wind, cold, and dampness to invade, affecting the circulation of qi and blood, and blocking the flow of qi in the meridians, which is also a common cause of osteoarthritis.

3. Chronic strain: Often doing work such as bowing the head, bending over, standing for a long time, etc., which causes poor circulation of qi and blood, tendons and veins, blood stasis, leading to nutritional disorders of muscles, tendons and bones, local damage, and thus clinical manifestations such as pain, poor flexion and extension of joints, and movement disorders.

4. Falls and sprains: Due to violent trauma or excessive force on the affected part, tendons and veins are damaged, resulting in poor circulation of qi and blood, stagnation and blockage, and osteoarthritis occurs.

5. Congenital malformation: Some patients have bone and joint deformities. Although they are asymptomatic when they are young and strong, after middle age, due to physical weakness, fatigue or exposure to external pathogens, the deformed parts are prone to lesions.
