Be sure to read the seven major factors of lower limb artery occlusion!

Arterial occlusion is a very common disease in daily life, which is what people often call arterial disease. It usually manifests as numbness of the lower limbs, cold, difficulty in movement, etc. These will bring great troubles to people's lives, so it is particularly important to find the cause of this disease. In fact, there are many factors that cause arterial occlusion. Smoking, diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperhomocysteinemia, chronic renal insufficiency and inflammatory indicators are the seven most common ones. People must understand them so that they can take preventive measures in time. If the above-mentioned symptoms occur or if you have related bad habits, you need to seek medical treatment and correct them in time to recover your health as soon as possible.

1. Smoking: Smoking is significantly correlated with the occurrence of lower limb arterial occlusive disease. Smoking can reduce the distance of intermittent claudication during exercise testing, increase the risk of peripheral arterial ischemia, myocardial infarction, stroke and death, and increase the risk of severe limb ischemia and amputation. The severity of the disease is positively correlated with the amount of smoking.

2. Diabetes: Diabetes increases the incidence of this disease by 2 to 4 times. The risk of female diabetic patients developing this disease is 2 to 3 times that of male patients. For every 1% increase in glycated hemoglobin in diabetic patients, the risk of arterial occlusive disease increases by 26%. Diabetic patients have a higher risk of CLI than non-diabetic patients, and the amputation rate is 7 to 15 times higher.

3. Hypertension : Hypertension is one of the main risk factors for lower limb arterial occlusive disease, and systolic blood pressure is more relevant, but the relative risk is weaker than smoking and diabetes.

4. Hyperlipidemia: Hyperlipidemia increases the prevalence of lower limb arterial occlusive disease and the risk of intermittent claudication.

5. Hyperhomocysteinemia: Compared with the general population, the combined probability of hyperhomocysteinemia in patients is significantly increased. Homocysteine is an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis, and approximately 30% of patients with arterial occlusive disease have hyperhomocysteinemia.

6. Chronic renal insufficiency: Studies have shown that chronic renal insufficiency is associated with arterial occlusive disease. Chronic renal insufficiency is an independent risk factor for arterial occlusive disease in postmenopausal women.

7. Inflammatory indicators : Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory reaction involving a variety of inflammatory cells and factors. Compared with asymptomatic people of the same age, people with increased inflammatory indicators (C-reactive protein) have a significantly higher probability of developing lower limb arterial occlusive disease after 5 years.

Therefore, in our daily life, especially for elderly patients, once abnormal sensation occurs in the lower limbs, we must pay attention to it, go to the hospital for examination in time, improve living habits, stabilize the treatment of underlying diseases, and avoid arterial diseases as much as possible. Because blood vessels are the pathways of our body's circulatory system, once the pathways are blocked, nutrients are difficult to transport, which will inevitably cause ischemia and even necrosis of limb tissues, which can easily lead to disability, and even worse, threaten our lives. Therefore, we need to pay great attention to the above factors in order to ensure the quality of our daily life.
