The root of onychomycosis turns black

The root of onychomycosis turns black

Onychomycosis can cause a variety of symptoms. The most common one is that the nails turn black and yellow, and they become very brittle and easily cause the nails to fall off. In more serious cases, it can cause infection and cause odor. Therefore, onychomycosis must be treated in time, especially when the disease has just occurred. Timely treatment can often achieve better results. Let us briefly understand this aspect.

Blackening of the root of onychomycosis

In addition to onychomycosis, other possible causes of black nails include poor blood circulation, malnutrition, lack of certain vitamins and trace elements, excessive heavy metals, and subungual congestion. Therefore, it is best to go to the dermatology department of a regular hospital, undergo appropriate examinations, and receive treatment after a clear diagnosis. Pay attention to a balanced diet and comprehensive nutrition, and do not eat too much processed food; pay attention to keeping warm and avoid cold stimulation.

Five signs of onychomycosis

Signal 1: Nails turn yellow. When fungi gather under the nail plate, the color of the nails will change. The keratin in the diseased area under the nail plate will fall off, allowing some dirt and stains to enter and also take on color. Usually, yellowing, whitish, or brownish colors may appear.

Signal 2: Deformed nails. Nail deformation usually presents symptoms such as unevenness, raised nail plate, and nail plate atrophy. When a large amount of fungi and some proliferating keratin accumulate under the deck, the distal end of the deck becomes significantly higher than the proximal end of the deck, appearing to be raised, with deep longitudinal or transverse grooves. Nail deformation seriously affects wearing shoes and affects human health.

Signal three: thickening of the deck. When the fungus enters our nail plate or nail bed, some of the keratin in the nail plate is infected by the fungus and multiplies rapidly. The accumulation of keratin will cause the nail plate to thicken. Moreover, the thickening of the nail plate also makes the nail bed opacity more serious. Generally, the thickened nail plate will be 1 to 3 times thicker than the normal nail plate.

Signal 4: Damaged nails. The thickened keratin becomes dry, flaky, and brittle, which can easily cause the nail to fall off from between the nail plate and the nail bed, making the surface layer of the nail that was originally bonded to the finger flesh hollow. In other words, the nail is divided into two layers, which is also a form of nail damage. Because the fungus has invaded under the nail plate and nail bed, and under the action of keratinase, the keratin protein has been dissolved to form tiny keratin particles. The damaged nail plate will lack elasticity and toughness and become brittle. The keratin particles will also be in the form of powder, which will easily fall off, loosen and become fragmented.

Signal 5: Nail falling off. When the deck is damaged by fungal hyphae and spores, it becomes brittle, fragmented, and proliferates. The accumulated keratin will fall off the surface of the deck, eventually causing the deck to fall off completely, leaving only the residual roots. At this point, all deck functions will be lost. More seriously, the root of the nail or the nail frame is invaded by fungi, causing chronic inflammation of the skin and soft tissue around the nail, showing redness.
