Treatment of Cardiac Cancer

Treatment of Cardiac Cancer

The treatment methods for cardiac cancer mainly include surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The specific choice varies depending on the patient's condition, physical condition and personal wishes. Surgery is the preferred method for treating cardiac cancer, especially for patients discovered in the early stage. Commonly used surgeries include cardiotomy, subtotal gastrectomy and partial cardiotomy. For those patients who still have residual lesions after surgery or are not suitable for immediate surgery, radiotherapy is another important treatment option. Radiotherapy can effectively reduce the size of the tumor and improve the survival rate of patients. Chemotherapy is usually used as an adjuvant therapy in combination with surgery or radiotherapy. Commonly used drugs include 5-fluorouracil, paclitaxel and oxaliplatin.

During surgery, cardiotomy is suitable for patients whose lesions are limited to the cardia area, and radical cure is achieved by removing part of the stomach. Subtotal gastrectomy is suitable for cases where the tumor is large or has invaded the stomach body, and tumor growth is controlled by extensive resection of the stomach and its surrounding tissues. For some patients with poor physical conditions who have difficulty tolerating major surgery, partial cardiotomy can be a more conservative option. Radiotherapy is usually performed after surgery to help eliminate residual cancer cells. Radiotherapy can also be used as a conservative treatment for patients with advanced disease or extremely difficult surgery. Chemotherapy can be performed before surgery to reduce the size of the tumor and increase the success rate of surgery, or it can be performed after surgery to prevent recurrence.

During the treatment process, dietary conditioning and psychological support are very important to improve the patient's quality of life. Patients can enhance their body resistance by increasing their intake of foods rich in protein and vitamins, such as lean meat, fish and fresh vegetables. Maintaining a good mental state is also critical, and the support of family and medical staff will have a positive impact on the patient's recovery process. Regular review and monitoring of the condition is an important part of the treatment process that cannot be ignored, which can ensure that potential recurrences or complications are discovered in time and the treatment plan is adjusted in time. Patients should communicate with their doctors regularly and adjust their lifestyle and treatment plan in a timely manner according to their own recovery.
