What is femoral artery atherosclerosis

Femoral artery atherosclerosis is also a type of atherosclerosis, which is also a type of lower limb artery atherosclerosis. Femoral artery atherosclerosis is generally related to nerve compression and can cause obvious pain. In this case, treatment should be sought as soon as possible.

1. 70-99% of leg atherosclerosis is a relatively serious lack of blood supply and local nerve compression that leads to pain. This product has vasodilation and antiplatelet effects. It has a certain effect in treating atherosclerosis, but it still has side effects on other body functions, such as abdominal distension, nausea, vomiting, stomach discomfort, abdominal pain, leukopenia, subcutaneous bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding, nosebleed, hematuria, and fundus hemorrhage.

2. Atherosclerosis of the lower limbs. The early symptoms are mainly intermittent claudication. Pain even at rest is a manifestation of severe ischemia of the lower limbs, often accompanied by numbness of the extremities and disappearance of the dorsalis pedis artery pulsation. Acro-extremity ulcers and gangrene may also occur in the late stage. Atherosclerosis of the lower limb arteries is a disease in which a layer of lipids like millet porridge is deposited on the arterial wall, reducing the elasticity of the arteries and narrowing the lumen.

3. Since atherosclerotic plaques are characterized by the sudden accumulation of lipids and necrotic tissue, atherosclerosis is often considered to be a degenerative disease. Its characteristic is that the lesions of the affected lower limb arteries start from the intima. Generally, there is accumulation of lipids and complex carbohydrates, bleeding and thrombosis, hyperplasia of fibrous tissue and calcification, as well as gradual degeneration and calcification of the middle layer of the artery. The lesions often involve elastic and large and medium muscular arteries. Once they develop to the point of blocking the arterial lumen, the tissues or organs supplied by the artery will become ischemic or necrotic. Because the lipids accumulated in the intima of the arteries appear as yellow atherosclerosis, it is called lower limb artery atherosclerosis.
