How are birthmarks formed and what are the aspects

Birthmarks are a common skin condition that occurs when babies are born. Birthmarks can appear anywhere on the body, and there are also different types of birthmarks. Some birthmarks appear green, while others appear red or colored.

1. Abnormal development during the embryonic period

During the process of fetal vascular formation, the vascular components undergo misalignment, leading to abnormal development of blood vessels and the formation of vascular birthmarks. Pigmented birthmarks are related to the retention of melanocytes in the dermis when they migrate from the neural crest to the epidermis at 11 weeks of gestation.

2. Estrogen causes

Most birthmarks occur in females at a much higher rate than in males, and the incidence rate during adolescence and pregnancy is higher than usual. This phenomenon indicates that the onset of birthmarks is closely related to female hormones.

3. Environmental factors

Polluted food, water, and air, as well as radiation pollution consumed by pregnant women, may be one of the reasons why birthmarks form in the fetus.
