Is 37.1 degrees considered a fever? What is the normal temperature change?

Everyone knows that the normal body temperature is 37 degrees. If the temperature exceeds this, it can be considered as high fever, which is commonly known as a fever. But what if it’s just a little bit above normal body temperature? For example, is 37.1 degrees also considered a fever? In fact, since human body temperature is greatly affected by the environment, a simple numerical value can no longer be used as a measurement standard.

1. Is 37.1 degrees considered a fever?

The normal body temperature is 37 degrees, low fever is 37.1~38, moderate fever is 38.1~39, high fever is 39.1~40, and super high fever is above 41C, so 37.1 is considered a low fever.

Since the body's heat energy mainly comes from skeletal muscle, under the action of pyrogens, skeletal muscle contracts particularly strongly, so before the body temperature rises, patients often feel cold and have chills, followed by high fever. Fever itself is not a disease, it is just a clinical manifestation of a certain disease. When taking symptomatic treatment for fever, do not forget to take further measures based on the cause of the fever and go to the hospital for treatment if necessary.

2. Normal changes in body temperature

Under the influence of internal and external factors, body temperature may vary slightly within the normal range. For example, the body temperature in the afternoon is relatively higher than in the morning, but the difference is generally less than 1°C; the body temperature may also rise slightly after a meal, work or strenuous exercise; sudden entry into a high temperature environment or emotional excitement may also cause a slight increase in body temperature; women's body temperature is slightly higher than normal during ovulation and pregnancy. There are also slight differences in body temperature at different age stages. For example, children have higher body temperature than adults due to their high metabolic rate; the elderly have slightly lower body temperature than young and middle-aged people due to their low metabolic rate.

3. What should I do if I have a high fever?

First of all, we must pay enough attention to fever. The reason for fever is that there are lesions in the body. Fever is a self-protection mode of the body. By raising its own temperature, the enzyme reaches the optimal temperature, thereby increasing the activity of the enzyme. This will allow for better sterilization. Therefore, if you have a fever, don't just think about reducing the fever, but solve the problem fundamentally. If you use various methods to reduce fever as soon as you have it, your body will not be able to kill the germs itself.
