How to prepare saline solution for nasal washing

How to prepare saline solution for nasal washing

In winter, friends with rhinitis suffer a lot. It is not scientific to rely on drug treatment, and the disease may relapse even after treatment. Therefore, we should know how to clean the nasal cavity. Using salt water to wash the nose can have anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects, and help us relieve the symptoms of rhinitis. Then we need to know the concentration ratio of the salt water and the cleaning method.

Winter is here, and as the weather gets colder, friends with rhinitis are feeling worse and worse. As we all know, rhinitis is difficult to treat with medication, and it is easy to relapse even after surgery, especially when the weather is cold. Here I recommend a purely physical therapy, washing the nose with saline. This method uses the anti-inflammatory and bactericidal effects of saline to clear a large number of allergens, bacteria, viruses and inflammatory secretions in the nasal cavity and sinuses. By cleaning the nose every day and maintaining a clean and refreshing environment in the nasal cavity, the nose can gradually restore its self-detoxification function. It is simple and practical, the cost is negligible, and it has a good effect on various types of rhinitis symptoms.

First, we need a set of nasal washing tools, including a 500ml measuring cup, a nasal washing device (similar to a baby bottle, squeezable, but with a tube at the top), a measuring spoon (to accurately measure grams), and a bag of iodine-free salt.

Non-iodized salt is available in local supermarkets, and the others can be purchased at local medical equipment stores or Taobao, and the prices are not expensive.

Measuring cup (500ml is basically enough, you can buy a larger one if you want to wash more times, but it must have precise scales because we need to prepare the saline solution ourselves),

Nasal rinser, the style is for reference only, any with similar functions will do

Measuring spoons usually have no scale on them, but you should ask the seller how many grams of salt a full spoonful contains.

Next, prepare normal saline solution, 0.9% sodium chloride solution, which means 100ml of water requires 0.9 grams of salt. There will be a slight error in your own preparation, but it will not have a impact. PS: If you put too little salt, that is, much lower than 0.9%, it will be uncomfortable to wash your nose, and the feeling is similar to choking on water while swimming. If your nose is blocked, you can increase the salt concentration to reduce nasal swelling and ventilate the nose. However, if your nose is blocked and you can't even take in water, it is not recommended to wash it.

First make the salt water with boiling water or purified water to ensure hygiene.

The recommended amount of water in the measuring cup is 500ml, and iodine-free salt requires 4.5 grams. You can use your own dosage. If you think it is inaccurate, Taobao also has the kind of accurately weighed bagged iodine-free salt, but it is more expensive.

In addition, local hospitals also have saline solution

When the water temperature is suitable, you can adjust the temperature yourself and pour it into the nasal rinser according to your comfort.

To rinse your nose, aim the catheter at one side of your nose. You can squeeze the water bottle with your hands or inhale it through your nose. There are generally two water cleaning routes: 1. Enter one side of the nose and come out the other side; 2. Enter one side of the nose and come out of the mouth. Anyway, they are all used to wash out the dirt, so it doesn't matter which side comes out.

Wash twice a day and you will feel refreshed!

Precautions

Twice a day is enough. Washing too much will damage the nasal cilia and will not be conducive to their self-recovery.
