Is a 3 cm lung tumor serious?

If a lung tumor is three centimeters in size, it indicates a relatively serious problem. If it is not effectively treated and controlled, it will pose a threat to life. Treatment can include high-fractionated dose radiotherapy or a combination of multiple radiotherapy techniques.

1. High-fractionated dose radiotherapy strategy: used for early lung cancer, liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, or small lesions such as brain metastasis, lung metastasis, liver metastasis and bone metastasis, with the purpose of local radical cure.

2. Multi-lesion selective radiotherapy strategy: Suitable for cancer patients in stages III to IV. Combination strategy of multiple radiotherapy techniques: For some special cases or more complex tumors, the advantages of multiple radiotherapy techniques can be combined to achieve high-dose irradiation of the target area and reduce radiation damage to normal tissues. For example, when peripheral lung cancer metastasizes to multiple mediastinal lymph nodes, in order to increase the target dose and reduce lung damage, a combination of R-knife and intensity-modulated radiotherapy can be used.

4. Selective radiotherapy combined with systemic treatment strategy: Cancer is a systemic disease. For some advanced cancer cases, we should not only consider the control of existing lesions, but also prevent the emergence of new lesions as much as possible. Therefore, while using modern radiotherapy technology for multi-lesion selective radiotherapy, combined treatment with chemotherapy or drug targeted therapy should also be considered.
