What are the reasons for low hemoglobin

The main component of red blood cells is hemoglobin. The hemoglobin content varies from person to person. When the normal hemoglobin value is low, you should also pay attention. Once the hemoglobin level is low, it is likely to be due to some disease factors such as bone marrow hematopoietic dysfunction.

1. Bone marrow hematopoietic dysfunction

Such as aplastic anemia, leukemia, myeloma, anemia caused by myelofibrosis.

2. Chronic diseases

Such as anemia caused or associated with infection, inflammation, malignant tumor, uremia, liver disease, rheumatic disease, endocrine system disease, etc.

3. Anemia caused by lack of hematopoietic substances or disorder of their utilization

Such as iron deficiency anemia, sideroblastic anemia, and megaloblastic anemia.

4. Anemia caused by excessive destruction of red blood cells

Such as hemolytic anemia, thalassemia, abnormal hemoglobin disease, paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria, immune hemolysis, mechanical hemolysis, etc.

5. Acute blood loss

After major surgery, chronic blood loss and other factors are factors that cause a decrease in red blood cells and hemoglobin.

6. Disease

In addition, diseases such as chronic enteritis and malabsorption, malaria, intestinal parasitic infections (roundworms, hookworms, and red worms) and chronic infectious diseases including AIDS are also causes of anemia.

7. Others

Low hemoglobin is the most common type of anemia. Iron is the raw material for synthesizing hemoglobin. Iron deficiency can cause hypochromic anemia, that is, the decrease in hemoglobin is more obvious than the decrease in the number of red blood cells. The iron used by a normal human body to produce hemoglobin mainly comes from the iron released after the destruction of aging red blood cells, while the amount of iron absorbed and excreted is very small. The iron in the general diet is sufficient to meet the body's needs, and iron deficiency is not likely to occur.
