Nutritional anemia has these symptoms

As more and more patients with nutritional anemia appear in life, people are paying more and more attention to this disease. The main cause of this disease is the lack of iron in our human body. Infants and young children are very susceptible to this disease, and the incidence rate is particularly high. Do you know the symptoms of nutritional anemia?

Clinically, we often call hemoglobin levels of 8-12% as mild anemia, 6-8% as moderate anemia, and below 6% as severe anemia. Children with mild anemia generally only show symptoms such as pale complexion, slightly depressed spirits, clingy nature, loss of appetite, weak constitution, frequent fever and colds, etc. Parents often think that these are emotional problems of their children, which can easily lead to negligence.

However, the symptoms of moderate or severe anemia are more obvious. The children have pale faces, are listless, and irritable. Some children also have pica, and often like to eat foreign objects such as wall paint, coal slag, matches, paper, etc., and have indigestion symptoms such as diarrhea and vomiting, accompanied by accelerated breathing and pulse, and enlarged liver.

Severely ill children may even suffer from heart failure, enlarged heart, swollen hands and feet, chest tightness and shortness of breath, and other symptoms. Some children also show serious regression in physical and intellectual abilities. They used to be able to talk, stand and walk, but now they can't do that anymore after becoming ill. In addition, the hair appears dry, yellow and sparse, there are no tears when crying, and the stool is dry. Laboratory tests may reveal varying degrees of decrease in red blood cell count and hemoglobin, and a sharp decrease in white blood cell and platelet counts. Severe bleeding symptoms may also occur.

Children with long-term anemia have poor physical development, are short, do not like to play, and are easily tired. Due to malnutrition, their skin elasticity is poor, their nails are poorly developed, brittle, and have horizontal lines, and their hair is dry, yellow, and dull.
