Port-wine stains are usually present at birth. They usually grow on the face, neck, and hair. Most of the time, they grow on one side, and bilateral ones are rare. Port-wine stains will grow with people's age and greatly affect the appearance of the face, especially making many people who love beauty lose confidence. So what are the methods to remove port-wine stains? Let’s learn together. First, conservative treatment of port-wine stains: Photodynamic therapy is the latest method of treating port-wine stains developed in recent years. Its advantage is that it selectively destroys the microcirculation blood vessels of the tumor tissue to achieve the purpose of treating port-wine stains. Due to its strong selectivity, it only acts on the deformed capillary network, thus avoiding the formation of scars. In addition, freezing is also a conservative treatment for port-wine stains. Although this method can reduce the red color, the treatment of port-wine stains is uneven and easily leaves spots, so it is not commonly used nowadays. Second, surgical treatment of port-wine stains: If it is surgically removed, on the one hand, skin grafting is needed after the lesion is removed. Full-thickness skin grafts or medium-thickness skin grafts are usually selected, which have better effects, but it should be noted that it is best to choose the inner side of the upper arm as the donor area; on the other hand, the lesion is large, and after surgical removal of the port-wine stain, it cannot be directly sutured. It needs to be repaired by transferring the adjacent skin flap, or using tissue expander therapy, that is, implanting a tissue expander around the lesion and removing it after 2 to 3 months. The local skin expansion is fully prepared and then repair is performed. Third, laser treatment of port-wine stains: using the selective photothermal effect of light on objects of different colors, using lasers or intense pulsed light with a wavelength between 530-600 nanometers to selectively act on the hemoglobin in the port-wine stains, heating it and destroying the dilated blood vessels, while other skin tissues are not damaged, thereby treating the port-wine stains. Fourth, Chinese medicine treatment for port-wine stains: Liuwei Dihuang Decoction. Rehmannia glutinosa, longan, moutan bark, bombyx batryticatus, licorice, yam, ophiopogon japonicus, oriental water plantain, etc. Boil the above Chinese medicines into soup, and then patients with port-wine stains can take this soup every day. This soup can nourish yin and tonify the kidney, so it has a lightening effect on port-wine stains and is especially suitable for older patients with port-wine stains. |
