How to soak fish maw, the following seven tips will teach you

Soak the fish maw. Fish maw, also known as fish belly or fish glue. Many pregnant women eat it because it is full of collagen, which is very good for unborn babies and pregnant women. In addition to pregnant women, patients undergoing surgery also often eat this. So, how do you soak fish maw?

1. First, we need to clean the fish maw and soak it in clean water overnight (the clean water after soaking does not need to be poured out, it can be kept for making soup). Make sure to put the whole piece of fish maw into the water! And make sure there is no oil in the water!

2. After soaking overnight, we took it out and had a look. As shown in the picture, the thick fish maw was only slightly white on both sides even though it had been soaked overnight, and the middle was still hard (it couldn't be cut with a knife!)

3. At this time, we cut a few pieces of ginger and green onion and set them aside. They will be used to remove the fishy smell of the fish maw later!

4. Boil a pot of water, add ginger slices and green onions after boiling.

5. Pour the fish maw into the boiled water (ginger + onion), cover the pot, cook over high heat until it boils again, then turn off the heat. Do not open the lid immediately, let the fish maw slowly soak in the boiling water until the water cools down.

6. Then open the lid of the pot. The fish maw should have become completely softened at this time, but if you want it to taste better, you can soak it in ice water for another ten minutes. Friends who find it troublesome can ignore this step. Cut the soaked fish maw into pieces and set aside.

7. You can soak multiple fish maws at a time, then cut them into pieces to preserve them, and put them in the freezer. This way, next time you want to make fish maws, you don’t have to spend so much time soaking them. You just need to take them out and thaw them before using them in cooking! Although this is more convenient, I still recommend that you eat it as soon as possible. After all, it is not very good if it is kept for too long.
