How to remove chestnut shells

How to remove chestnut shells

Chestnuts are a very popular snack, because fried chestnuts taste very sweet. Many people like to eat chestnuts because they taste fragrant and crispy. However, when eating chestnuts, the most worrying thing is that the shell of the chestnut is not easy to remove, and there is a layer of furry shell inside the hard shell. So how to remove the shell when eating chestnuts?

Here is a quick way to shell chestnuts;

1. Salt water boiling method

After washing the chestnuts, use a knife to make a small cut in the middle; put them in salt water and cook on the stove for 5 minutes; while they are still hot, remove the shells and skins; when all are peeled, they are still intact.

2. Hot water soaking method

Wash the raw chestnuts, put them in a container, add a little salt, cover them with boiling water, and cover the pot. After 5 minutes, take out the chestnuts and cut them open, the chestnut skin will fall off along with the chestnut shell. This method of removing chestnut skin saves time and effort.

3. Salt water soaking method (strongly recommended)

Pour the chestnuts directly into salt water for 5 minutes; then cut a slit with a knife; remove the shell and skin while hot; quite intact.

4. Incision Soaking Method

Cut the chestnuts in half; remove the shells; soak them in boiling water, covered, for 5 minutes; the shells can be easily removed.

5. Chopstick stirring method

Cut the chestnuts in half, peel them and put them in a basin. Add boiling water and soak them for a while. Stir them with chopsticks and the chestnut skin will separate from the chestnut meat. But be careful, the soaking time should not be too long, otherwise it will affect the nutritional content of the chestnuts.

6. Refrigerator Freezer Method

After the chestnuts are cooked, cool them down and place them in the refrigerator for two hours to separate the shell and the meat. This way, the chestnut skin can be peeled quickly and the chestnut meat remains intact.

7. Rice Cooker Method

After washing the chestnuts, cut a slit; put them in the rice cooker without adding water; press the cooking button, take them out and peel off the shell; because after cooking, they are cooked. So it's easy to peel. The color isn't very nice either.

8. Pressure Cooker Method

After washing the chestnuts, cut a slit with a knife; put them in a pressure cooker without adding water; after it starts to steam, turn off the heat after three minutes. Remove the shell and skin; this method is more difficult to peel, and it is not easy to know when to turn off the heat.

9. Microwave Heating Method

Just use scissors to cut the shell of the raw chestnuts you bought, heat them in a microwave at high temperature for 30 seconds, and the skin and flesh inside will automatically fall off. The colors made by the microwave are quite beautiful. However, before using this method to remove the chestnut shell, be sure to cut open the shell, otherwise it may cause the microwave oven to malfunction.

10. Thermal Expansion and Contraction Method

Use a knife to peel the chestnut shells, put them into boiling water and cook for 3-5 minutes. After taking them out, immediately soak them in cold water for 3-5 minutes. This will make it easy to peel off the chestnut shells and the taste will remain unchanged.
