What is the effect of inhaling carbon dioxide on breathing?

When it comes to carbon dioxide, everyone is familiar with it. Carbon dioxide is a very common gas in the air. Under normal circumstances, people will ingest a certain amount of carbon dioxide when breathing, but it is not suitable to ingest too much. Too much will affect your health. Many families usually have the habit of lighting a stove in winter, especially at night. When lighting a stove, the doors and windows are closed, which can easily cause excessive carbon dioxide and endanger your health.

Effects of inhaling carbon dioxide on breathing

When the CO2 content inhaled by the human body exceeds 2%, the breathing will deepen, making people feel depressed in the chest area and have difficulty breathing. As CO2 levels continue to increase, breathing becomes more difficult.

If the CO2 content inhaled by the human body exceeds 7%, the lung ventilation will be significantly affected, and the pCO2 in alveolar gas and arterial blood will increase significantly. The higher the amount of CO2 adsorbed, the greater the impact on respiration, and it may even affect the human central nervous system. The respiratory center will be inhibited, causing fainting, and in severe cases even endangering life.

The hazards of carbon dioxide

When the carbon dioxide content in the atmosphere increases to a certain level, it will prevent the earth's heat from dissipating and cause the earth's temperature to rise, which is the "greenhouse effect." Human beings can prevent the greenhouse effect by developing new energy sources, reducing the burning of fossil fuels, protecting vegetation, and planting trees.

The temperature on Earth is getting higher and higher now because of the increase in carbon dioxide. Because carbon dioxide has a heat-retaining effect, the increasing amount of carbon dioxide now causes the temperature to rise. In the past 100 years, the global temperature has risen by 0.6℃. If this continues, it is expected that by the middle of the 21st century, the global temperature will rise by 1.5~4.5℃.

The rise in sea level is also caused by the increase in carbon dioxide. In the past 100 years, the sea level has risen by 14 cm. By the middle of the 21st century, the sea level will rise by 25 to 140 cm. As the sea level rises, the Amazon rainforest will disappear and the ice in the polar oceans will melt. All of these changes are tantamount to a catastrophe for wildlife.
