1. Chronic progressive tooth loosening is mostly caused by periodontitis. This loosening is often not accompanied by obvious pain or discomfort in the teeth, but there is often a symptom of weakness in biting. What needs everyone's attention is that most adults in our country, especially those over 35 years old, suffer from chronic periodontitis. Teeth can only exist stably in a fixed position in the mouth and perform their functions because of the bone tissue and soft tissue surrounding the roots. Chronic periodontitis is a chronic progressive disease, which is mainly a chronic inflammation of the periodontal supporting tissue. It does not cause tooth loosening in the early stages of the disease, but as the disease progresses, the alveolar bone surrounding the tooth root undergoes chronic absorption. When the degree of absorption exceeds 1/2 of the root length, the supporting force of the tooth is weakened, which will increase the looseness of the tooth. It is understandable that the posterior teeth have multiple roots and more periodontal supporting tissue surrounding the roots, while the anterior teeth have a single root. Therefore, when the alveolar bone is absorbed to the same extent, the anterior teeth are looser than the posterior teeth. In addition, it cannot be ignored that in addition to chronic periodontitis, aggressive periodontitis is also a special type of periodontitis. Patients with aggressive periodontitis often experience symptoms of loose teeth at a relatively young age, with more severe symptoms and faster progression. The disease often occurs during adolescence or around the age of 20, and women are more susceptible to the disease than men.

If the occlusion of the teeth is not good, or if there is a bad habit of grinding the teeth or clenching the teeth at night, it will cause trauma to the occlusion of the teeth, which will cause the teeth to loosen in the long run. Whether it is the trauma caused by bite needs to be determined by a professional examination by a dentist. It should also be noted that if a person suffers from periodontitis, he or she will be more sensitive to occlusal trauma, and the degree of tooth loosening caused by the same occlusal trauma will be more serious.

3. Sudden loose teeth usually have clear causes, such as suddenly biting hard objects, trauma, etc. The loose teeth caused by this situation are often accompanied by pain and discomfort, and may cause the teeth to shift, that is, deviate from their original normal position. In severe cases, it may cause the teeth to fall out. In this case, you should go to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.

4. If loose teeth are accompanied by occlusal pain or gum pain, it is mostly due to acute inflammatory edema of the periodontal membrane tissue, which causes the loose teeth. There may be multiple causes of periodontal ligament inflammation and edema. If there has been pain in the teeth due to hot or cold stimuli, or spontaneous severe tooth pain, it may be due to the progression of pulp inflammation causing inflammation of the periapical tissues, thereby causing inflammation of the periodontal ligament tissues. In this case, the inflammation of the pulp and periapical tissues should be treated first. If there is gingival pain and obvious pus discharge, it may be due to inflammation of the periodontal ligament caused by periodontal abscess, which is also a manifestation of periodontitis. At this time, the periodontal abscess should be resolved first.

5. If loose teeth occur after periodontal surgery, the loosening is generally temporary and is only caused by some congestion of local tissues caused by the surgery. Generally, after a few weeks, the edema will subside and the teeth will return to their original looseness.
