What is a tampon

What is a tampon

Generally speaking, in today's life, many women use sanitary napkins, a sanitary product, during their menstrual period, but they don't know much about tampons, and many people also question its practicality and hygiene safety. Therefore, faced with various doubts, let us introduce to you some common sense about tampons and its advantages of use.

Tampons are mainly made of cotton, synthetic fibers, or both.

Made of mixed materials, it comes in sizes ranging from 1 cm to 1.9 cm in diameter, with a cotton string (drawstring) attached to the end. The degree of arc at the tip of tampons varies from brand to brand, allowing users to choose according to their own usage habits. The body of a tampon often has straight or diagonal indentations that increase the tampon's ability to conduct fluid and allow it to fit against the vaginal wall as it expands to absorb menstrual blood.

Tube-type tampons come with a paper or plastic tube to make it easier for the user to insert the tampon. The overall structure of the catheter is divided into an outer tube and an inner tube. The surface of the outer tube is smooth and the front end is rounded for easy insertion. The front end of the outer tube has a petal-shaped opening. The function of the inner tube is to push the tampon out of the petal-shaped opening of the outer tube in a piston-like propulsion manner.

Tampon labeling method: Two water drops indicate an absorbency between 6 and 9 grams. Like sanitary napkins, tampons also have different absorbencies. Since the absorbency of tampons is believed to be related to toxic shock syndrome in women, after 1988, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearly defined the standards for the suction capacity of tampons.

After reading the above introduction, I believe everyone should have a more comprehensive understanding of the issue of tampons. Paying attention to reproductive health can effectively avoid the occurrence of various reproductive diseases, especially during menstruation, because women are very susceptible to some reproductive diseases and bacterial infections.
