What kills mites?

Mites are a kind of particularly annoying insects. Once there are mites on the body, it will cause skin itching, and sometimes it is easy to cause allergies, seriously affecting daily life and work. Mites need to be removed, otherwise the impact and harm to the human body will be great. In daily life, there are also many ways to remove mites. The following specifically introduces what can kill mites.

What can kill mites?

1. When you get up, don't fold the quilt. Spread it out to dissipate heat: Wash pillowcases, quilt covers and sheets every week to wash away dandruff and other debris. The outdoor air pollution is serious now. Instead of drying your quilt in the sun, you can take it to a large drying shop. The temperature of 5 or 60 degrees can remove moisture and kill dust mites. In addition, some American scholars have studied that when you get up, you should not fold the quilt, but let the warm and moist side that touches the body spread out to dissipate heat.

2. Turn off the lights for an hour before using a vacuum cleaner: Dust mites prefer cloth products that come into contact with the human body, such as bedding, dolls, curtains, etc. Therefore, these areas have the most mites and can be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner. Japanese scholars have studied that dust mites like to move around in the dark, so it will be more effective to use a vacuum cleaner to remove dust mites after the lights are dimmed for 1 or 2 hours.

3. The mattress is too thick and dust mites cannot be sucked away: A general mattress is about 20 centimeters. No matter how strong the suction power of a mite-removing vacuum cleaner is, it can only clean a depth of 5 centimeters on the surface of the mattress at most. Therefore, it is best not to use a thick mattress for bedding. If you can't get used to it, you can use a water mattress or a thin mattress instead.

4. Mop the floor first and then vacuum to avoid raising dust: Before using a vacuum cleaner to clean the environment, you can mop the floor with a wet cloth first to avoid raising dust directly by sweeping the floor. Wait until the floor is dry before using a vacuum cleaner. Finally, use an air purifier to further reduce the concentration of fine particles.

5. Choose anti-mite bedding to prevent dust mites from running around and breeding: It is impossible to completely isolate dust mites with a single method, and a multi-pronged approach is required. For example, you can choose anti-mite bedding, the fibers are very densely woven, so dust mites will not run around and breed, and the physical principles are used to prevent mites. But be aware that after repeated washings, the fibers will loosen and lose their effectiveness.

6. Clean after killing dust mites: When the temperature is higher than 50 degrees or the ambient humidity is lower than 50%, mites cannot survive. Therefore, it is also recommended to use a dehumidifier to reduce the humidity of the environment, and to use a washing machine or dryer that can set the temperature to kill dust mites. The filters or water tanks of such machines should also be cleaned and replaced regularly. After drying to kill the dust mites, it is best to wash it again to remove the dust mite corpses. When washing, you can use commercially available anti-mite laundry detergent to kill mites by breaking down protein.

7. Dust more diligently when you have pets: If you have pets, you must be more thorough than others when vacuuming and dusting. Pets may also have dust mites on their bodies, so they need to be groomed, bathed, and kept dry regularly. Try to avoid contact between pets and fabric furniture, especially fabric carpets that are difficult to clean.

People who have pets but don’t have allergy issues can thoroughly vacuum and dust twice a week. If you are severely allergic to pets, it is best to vacuum every day and use an air purifier to minimize the concentration of allergens in hair, dander and air.
