How to choose a pressure cooker

How to choose a pressure cooker

The importance of pressure cookers is self-evident, because of the existence of pressure cookers, people can eat a lot of food they want to eat. However, there are many issues to pay attention to when using pressure cookers. If you are not careful, it will cause all kinds of troubles. So how to choose a pressure cooker? First of all, you should observe whether the appearance of the pressure cooker is damaged. What other issues should you pay attention to? Let’s take a look together.

1. Choose the right pressure cooker

The pressure cookers on the market generally have four optional specifications: 18cm, 20cm, 22cm, 24cm, 26cm, and 28cm. Choose the specification according to your needs.

The service life of a pressure cooker can reach more than 8 years. Currently, pressure cookers on the market are made of aluminum alloy and stainless steel, and their surfaces have been specially treated. Stainless steel pressure cookers are heat-resistant, beautiful, and do not easily react with acids, alkalis, and salts in food, so they have little impact on your health.

2. Read the instructions before use.

When buying a pressure cooker for the first time, you must read the instruction manual of the pressure cooker and check whether all the parts and accessories of the pressure cooker are complete.

When using, first carefully check whether the exhaust hole, safety valve hole, and safety window are blocked. If it is blocked by food during use, the pot should be moved away from the fire source, forced to cool according to the instructions, and the air holes should be cleaned before continuing to use. The sealing ring will turn yellow and age after a period of use. The aging sealing ring can easily cause the pressure cooker to leak and needs to be replaced in time.

3. Cover the pot with the lid and make sure the upper and lower handles are completely overlapped

The old-style pressure cookers did not have a safety design on the handle. If the lid and the pot body were not completely covered, it would easily explode (now eliminated from the market). The handles of current pressure cookers on the market have a safety design. If the lid is not completely overlapped when closed, it will leak and no air pressure will be generated in the pot body.

4. Do not replace the pressure cooker with accessories of different brands

In order to increase the pressure inside the pot, the spring accessories and sealing rings on the pot lid are replaced. This may easily lead to accidents. When accessories need to be replaced, be sure to purchase the same brand for replacement, or ask a professional to repair them.

5. Do not overfill the pressure cooker when cooking food

When using a pressure cooker to cook food, be sure to cook according to the capacity requirements in the instructions. If the food is easy to expand, it must not exceed two-thirds of the pot's volume.

6. Do not open the lid when there is pressure in the pressure cooker

During the heating process, the lid must not be opened halfway. Do not remove the pressure-limiting valve or pressure regulating device before confirming cooling to avoid gas spraying and injuring people. The lid should be opened only after natural cooling or forced cooling. For new pressure cookers, if there is air pressure in the pot, the safety pin at the handle position will rise to prevent the lid from being opened.

7. Someone must be present when cooking with a pressure cooker

Using a pressure cooker requires careful control of the heat, especially not using a high heat. After heating, as long as the steam in the pot emits a gas sound from the exhaust pipe, the furnace temperature can be lowered to keep the pressure limiting valve making a slight hissing sound until cooking is completed. This is safe and saves time and fuel. There are automatic electric pressure cookers on the market that will automatically cut off the power after cooking.

8. Do not put food in the pressure cooker or use sharp utensils to scrape the pot

The pressure cooker should be cleaned promptly after use. Do not store any food in the pot overnight. After use, especially check the safety valve, exhaust valve, etc. to see if there is any food accumulation. Do not use sharp utensils when cleaning or shoveling food from the pot.

How to choose a pressure cooker? The above answers this question. Those who like to cook should read it carefully. Of course, when using a pressure cooker, it is best to stay next to it, because many fire accidents are caused by pressure cookers. We must pay attention to all aspects of the problem.
