How to store opened red wine

Red wine can help us appreciate different flavors. Drinking some red wine in moderation will not only not harm our liver, but may also help us achieve the effect of disinfection. However, after opening, the red wine is very easy to react with the oxygen in the air, causing the red wine to change its taste. After opening, the red wine must be sealed. Let’s briefly describe how to preserve the opened red wine.

Red wine is generally difficult to preserve without a specific storage place. Because the preservation of red wine has strict requirements on temperature, humidity and darkness. In a professional wine cellar, the temperature needs to be controlled between 10 and 14 degrees and the humidity maintained at 70%. In ordinary households, the wine can be preserved for a long time by first sealing it in a corrugated cardboard box or styrofoam box with heat-insulating and light-insulating effects, and then placing it in a cool, ventilated place with little temperature change.

As for wine that has been opened but not finished, the ideal method is to first pump out all the air in the bottle and then put the cork back in. This way, it can be preserved for about a week. But a more economical way is to transfer the leftover wine into a small bottle so that no air can be retained in the bottle, so that it can be stored for another 24 hours. However, opened wine should be consumed as soon as possible, because the longer it is stored, the faster its flavor will dissipate. In addition to paying attention to the storage location, you also need to pay attention to the way the wine bottles are placed. Wine must be placed horizontally, and it is best if the bottle mouth is tilted slightly downward. This will not only help the sedimentation of the dregs, but also allow the cork to be moistened by the wine, maintaining a certain humidity, and the bottle mouth will be tightly blocked by the cork.

After opening the red wine, it must be sealed. You can put some thin plastic film at the bottle mouth to effectively prevent the entry of oxygen and avoid oxidation reaction, which will make the taste of the red wine lighter. After opening the red wine, it must be used as soon as possible to achieve the best drinking effect.
