How to treat motion sickness?

The vestibule is our organ of balance and is located primarily deep inside the ear. There are many small hairs growing inside it, swaying like water plants in the liquid-filled cavity. The bottom of the "water grass" is connected to the brain through nerves. When we move our heads, these water plants will naturally move with us, causing symptoms of motion sickness. Many people feel extremely painful when they suffer from motion sickness and don’t know how to treat it.

If we were blindfolded, tied to a chair, fixed in a small enclosed space and shaken violently - like some machines in an amusement park, although we would not get any visual, auditory or tactile cues, we could roughly feel whether our head was up or down. This is the function of the vestibule.

Sleep method: Before you travel, you should ensure enough sleep to improve your body's ability to adapt to the bumpy stimulation during the journey.

Diet: Before traveling, you should try to avoid taking high-fat, high-protein foods to prevent your stomach from being overburdened and the bumpy journey from making your stomach upset. You should also eat moderately during your trip, and eat until you are 70% to 80% full at each meal.

Psychological adjustment method: Relaxation and a happy mood play a very important role in eliminating motion sickness. When traveling, don't always worry about getting carsick. Instead, distract yourself by chatting with others, singing, or playing games.

Farsightedness method: First, sit in the direction that the car is traveling. Secondly, when the vehicle is moving, do not read books or newspapers in the car or look at things passing by outside the window, but focus your eyes on the distance.

Oral method: Hold two slices of fresh ginger before getting on the bus, and you can hold plums, tangerine peel, etc. on the way.

Nasal inhalation method: Place two slices of fresh ginger or mint essence on a mask or handkerchief, place it under the nostrils, and inhale on the way. You can also aim fresh orange peel at your nostrils and squeeze it hard to spray the juice in the peel into your nostrils, and inhale it repeatedly.

The above methods of treating motion sickness are relatively simple and effective. Motion sickness is a particularly painful thing. There are many ways to treat motion sickness. If the above methods still cannot relieve motion sickness, you can take medication for treatment. Taking drugs such as metoclopramide half an hour before riding is also a good way to relieve motion sickness.
