Is it really not easy to get drunk if you drink liquor first and then beer?

When we get together, everyone has to drink. Some people like to drink red wine, some people like to drink white wine or beer. It all depends on personal preference. In summer, everyone generally likes to drink beer and eat barbecue, but white wine is most used in social gatherings, while red wine is suitable for couples and at parties. Some people drink beer and toast with others after drinking white wine. So, is it really not easy to get drunk if you drink white wine first and then beer?

As the saying goes, "Drink beer first, then white wine, and you'll be so drunk that you have to walk with the help of the wall; drink white wine first, then beer, and you won't get drunk no matter how much you drink." However, this statement is not scientific. Liquor and beer are two different types of liquor. The former is distilled liquor and the latter is fermented liquor. Therefore, the ingredients of the two liquors are different. In addition to a small amount of fusel oil, white wine is mainly ethanol, while beer contains many ingredients such as carbon dioxide, inorganic salts, vitamins, and antioxidants such as polyphenols, some of which can promote the absorption of ethanol. Some people believe that the carbon compounds in beer will speed up the absorption of alcohol. Just like the claim that drinking tea can sober up, this has not been scientifically confirmed. Therefore, only time can slowly eliminate alcohol from the blood.

Drinking too much alcohol can cause alcohol poisoning. Alcohol is a neurotropic substance that has an inhibitory effect on the central nervous system. After drinking, you will feel relaxed and warm, eliminate tension, relieve fatigue and reduce discomfort or pain. Drinking a large amount of alcohol at one time can produce a state of drunkenness, which is a common form of acute alcohol poisoning. At this time, the alcohol content in human blood can reach 0.1%. Normally, the metabolic rate of alcohol in an adult's blood is 150 to 200 mg/L per hour. Although the body's metabolic rate varies from person to person, on average it takes an average of 6 to 8 hours for an average person to recover from a moderate level of drunkenness.

Therefore, the degree of drunkenness is related to how much you drink and the alcohol content in your blood. What you drink first or later has little impact from a physiological point of view. Drinking a mixture of liquor and beer will make you drunk more easily, and the discomfort you feel in the end will be significantly greater than the feeling of being drunk from drinking only one of the liquors. It will also make you feel drunk earlier, causing dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and even other symptoms of poisoning.

It is best not to mix alcohol when drinking. Some young people like to pursue excitement and even mix white wine, beer and red wine together, which is very harmful to the body. If you don’t want to get drunk, it’s best to eat something to fill your stomach before drinking. Otherwise, you will easily get drunk and hurt your stomach. Drinking some yogurt after drinking can help you sober up.
