The syndrome is characterized by insufficient middle qi and cold spleen and stomach. It is advisable to tonify the middle qi, strengthen the spleen and warm the stomach. The medicinal ingredients include 30 grams of roasted Astragalus, 15 grams of Codonopsis pilosula, 12 grams each of Atractylodes macrocephala, Poria cocos, yam, lentil, cuttlebone, and calcined Corrugated Iron Seed, 10 grams each of dried tangerine peel, galangal, Cyperus rotundus, Evodia rutaecarpa, and roasted licorice. Take one dose daily, decocted in water.

2. Patients with stomach yin deficiency: burning pain in the stomach, noisy discomfort, poor appetite even when hungry, dry mouth, thirst, difficult bowel movements, red tongue with cracks, thin or peeled tongue coating, and a stringy, fine pulse. The syndrome is liver-spleen disharmony and stomach yin deficiency. It is advisable to soothe the liver and strengthen the spleen, and nourish the yin and stomach. Take 30 grams each of medicinal dandelion and Houttuynia cordata, 15 grams each of Northern Adenophora, Polygonatum odoratum, White Peony Root, and Trichosanthes kirilowii, 12 grams each of Ophiopogon japonicus, pollen, Cassia tora, Dendrobium officinale, and Crataegus pinnatifida, 10 grams each of Toosendan fruit and vinegar-soaked Corydalis, and 6 grams of licorice. Take one dose daily, decocted in water.

3. Patients with stasis and stomach damage: stabbing or sharp pain in the stomach, the painful area is resistant to pressure, sometimes there is a burning and noisy feeling in the stomach, poor appetite, dark purple tongue with ecchymosis, thin yellow tongue coating, and sluggish pulse. The syndrome is qi stagnation, blood stasis, and stagnation of heat that damages the stomach. It is good for promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, promoting qi and regulating the stomach. The medicinal ingredients include 30 grams each of Salvia miltiorrhiza and Taraxacum mongolicum, 20 grams each of Hedyotis diffusa and Scutellaria barbata, 12 grams each of Cyperus rotundus and Corydalis yanhusuo, 10 grams each of Trillium, Curcuma zedoaria, Atractylodes macrocephala, Pollen Typhae, Toosendan fruit and Linderae scutellariae, and 6 grams of Amomum villosum. Take one dose daily, decocted in water.

4. Patients with liver-fire attacking the stomach type: Due to long-term illness, spleen and stomach qi are deficient, emotional discomfort, depression turns into fire, resulting in fullness and dull pain in the stomach, pain aggravated after eating, frequent heartburn and acid reflux, bitter and sticky mouth, loose stools, pale red tongue, yellow and greasy tongue coating, and thin and rapid pulse. The syndrome is a mixture of deficiency and excess, and liver fire invading the stomach. The treatment is to soothe the liver and regulate qi, clear away heat and regulate the stomach. The medicinal ingredients include 15 grams each of Codonopsis pilosula, Bupleurum chinense, and Poria cocos, 10 grams each of Pinellia ternata, Scutellaria baicalensis, Gardenia jasminoides, Costusroot, Citron, and malt, and 6 grams each of Coptis chinensis, Evodia rutaecarpa, and Licorice. Take one dose daily, decocted in water.

It is necessary to start from the diet and lifestyle habits of gastritis patients themselves in order to achieve good results in gastric medicine treatment. Develop good eating habits and maintain a regular lifestyle. Choose non-irritating and easily digestible foods for every meal, and avoid taking medications that are harmful to the gastric mucosa. Then, take some medicine appropriately according to the different symptoms of acute gastritis and chronic gastritis.
