What should I do if my mouth is protruding?

Protruding mouth is a common problem for many people. As the name suggests, the mouth protrudes outward, which makes the forehead and nose appear very flat and lack three-dimensionality. It is not only unsightly, but also has a great impact on people's lives. People will lack confidence because of this, will be ridiculed at school, develop inferiority complex, and affect their future study and work. So, what should you do if you have a protruding mouth?

What are the symptoms of a protruding mouth?

The mouth shape seems irregular; the nasolabial folds are deep; the expression looks like being angry or reluctant; the size of the lip tissue is smaller than the protruding gums and teeth, making it difficult to close the mouth; the tip of the chin is uneven like a walnut due to muscle tension; the teeth are exposed when the lips are relaxed; most of the gums are exposed when smiling. Due to the protrusion of the mouth, the author's forehead is relatively sunken when viewed from the side and the lips feel thick. As long as you have five of the above eight points, it can be determined that you have a protruding mouth.

1. Puff up your mouth as hard as you normally would when blowing bubbles, and keep doing this for at least ten seconds. Then, purse your lips as hard as you can, and also keep doing this for 10 seconds. This can reduce facial fat over time.

2. Slowly raise your head, look at the sky, then open your mouth, push the tip of your tongue upwards with force, and hold for 10 seconds; then retract your tongue, close your mouth, and slowly lower your head. Repeat 10 times to reduce excess fat in the lower jaw area.

3. Open your mouth slightly and move your lower jaw left and right, repeat about 30 times. Just do it 2-3 times a day.

4. You can also take massage, because massage is also a simple way to eliminate facial fat, but you must pay attention to the correct posture to avoid injury:

(1) Press and knead the areas with the most flesh on your face: Apply a little face-slimming massage cream, then use kneading and pressing techniques on the areas with the most flesh on your face, stretching from the inside out. Remember to move gently.

(2) Massage the cheeks: Place your palms against your cheeks and massage the skin from inside to outside. This action takes about 1 minute.

(3) Support your chin: Use both hands to gently support your chin, and then repeat this rhythmically for about 1 minute.

Buck teeth can be corrected through surgical orthodontic surgery. Generally, after the buck teeth are corrected, they should no longer protrude.

There are two treatments for protruding mouth. One is to use surgery to move the protruding gums and teeth back. The second method is to correct teeth without surgery. Orthodontics may sound less scary than surgery, but if you are a surgical patient and only have orthodontics done, your satisfaction with the results will be greatly reduced.

During surgery, tooth extraction leaves space on the gums, and delicate gum resection moves the protruding gums and teeth horizontally backwards. In contrast, orthodontic treatment can only move the front and back teeth to fill this space. The advantage of orthodontic treatment is that it does not require surgery and can eliminate the psychological fear caused by surgery. However, considering the situation where the teeth and gum bones themselves protrude forward, we only perform dental correction. It will not bring satisfactory results. If a patient who should have undergone surgery receives only orthodontic treatment, only the teeth will tilt inward, with little change to the bones and philtrum. It may also happen that the incisors tilt lingually, with minimal overall effect. And one thing to know is that long-term orthodontic treatment is more difficult and longer than you might think.

Patients can also eat some face-slimming foods, such as winter melon and corn soup, which can remove fat and reduce edema. The soup is also very simple. You need to drink it for one or two months, and there will definitely be obvious results. You can also drink green tea soaked in lotus leaves. These all play an auxiliary role and the effect is relatively slow. If you want it to be quick, you can have surgery.
