The harm of scar tissue hyperplasia

The harm of scar tissue hyperplasia

Female friends who love beauty will choose the more advanced scar removal surgeries on the market in pursuit of perfection. They remove scars for the sake of beauty, but patients with scar tissue hyperplasia remove scars for the sake of health, and the appearance of scar tissue is much uglier than ordinary scars, which causes many patients to become psychologically inferior.

Scar tissue refers to the fibrous connective tissue in the aging stage formed by the remodeling and maturation of granulation tissue. Its formation is a process of gradual fibrosis of granulation tissue. At this time, there are more and more reticular fibers and collagen fibers, the reticular fibers are collagenized, and the collagen fibers become thicker. At the same time, there are fewer and fewer fibroblasts, and the few remaining ones are transformed into fibrocytes; the fluid in the interstitium is gradually absorbed, and the neutrophils, macrophages, lymphocytes and plasma cells disappear one after another; the capillaries close, degenerate, and disappear, leaving only a few small arteries and small veins. In this way, the granulation tissue is transformed into scar tissue with few blood vessels, which is mainly composed of collagen fibers. It appears white to the naked eye and has a tough texture.

Scar contraction is different from the early contraction of the wound. Scar contraction is the reduction in volume caused by a significant reduction in water content in the later stage of the scar. The contraction of myofibroblasts causes the contraction of the entire scar. Because scars are tough and lack elasticity, and their contraction can cause organ deformation and dysfunction, scars occurring near joints and important organs often cause joint spasms or restricted movement. For example, in cavity organs such as the digestive tract and urinary tract, they cause stenosis of the lumen, and near the joints, they cause movement disorders.

Scar adhesions occur between organs or between organs and body cavity walls, often affecting their functions to varying degrees. If extensive fibrosis and hyalinization occur after extensive damage within an organ, it will lead to organ sclerosis.

Excessive proliferation of scar tissue is also called "hypertrophic scar". If this hypertrophic scar protrudes from the skin surface and spreads irregularly beyond the original range of injury, it is called a "keloid" or "keloid". It is easily seen in burns or wounds that are repeatedly stimulated by foreign objects, and is generally believed to be related to skin tension and physical constitution. The constitution of those who are prone to keloids is called a scarring constitution. Its molecular mechanism is unclear. Mast cells are often seen around the blood vessels in keloids. Therefore, some people believe that due to continuous local inflammation and hypoxia, mast cells are promoted to secrete a variety of growth factors, causing excessive growth of granulation tissue, thus forming keloids.

Scars can be removed through treatment, so patients don’t have to worry. It is recommended that patients adjust their mentality. As the saying goes, a smile makes you look ten years younger. Face the disease with a positive attitude, listen to the doctor's advice and cooperate with the treatment. Eat more foods that can smooth the skin and use external ointments.
