How to bandage a wound

How to bandage a wound

When our body is hurt and we are injured, we must bandage it in time. Bandaging is one of the most commonly used and basic first aid techniques for various injuries. If bandaged properly, it can apply pressure to stop bleeding, protect wounds, prevent infection, fix fractures and reduce pain. Here we will introduce you to the method of wound dressing.

1. Bandaging method for chest injury

If the chest cavity is injured and perforated, the chest cavity expands when you inhale, and air will enter the wound, causing lung failure. This is one of the greatest dangers caused by chest injuries. You should cover the wound with your palm in time to prevent air from entering when you inhale. The patient lies supine with the head and shoulder tilted toward the injured side. Plugging the wound with a large loose, moist compress, or using a plastic sheet or aluminum foil (preferably covered with a layer of petroleum jelly) and covering it with a bandage.

2. Bandaging method for abdominal injuries

Injuries to the abdomen may damage internal organs and cause internal bleeding. Wetting the patient's lips and tongue with a wet cloth will make the patient feel much better; if the injured person's intestines flow out of the abdominal cavity, they must be protected and kept moist. Do not attempt to reposition it, as this will complicate post-rescue surgery. If no internal organs are exposed, the wound should be cleaned and bandaged.

3. Bandaging methods for head injuries

A head injury is likely to damage the brain, and the injury may also affect normal breathing and eating. To ensure that the root of the tongue does not press against the throat and to ensure smooth breathing, dentures or broken teeth must be removed and bleeding must be controlled. Conscious patients can sit or lie down. If the comatose patient has no injuries to the neck and spine, he must lie on his side in the recovery position.

Expert Tips: Bandage should be timely and correct

When the wounded are bleeding heavily or have fractures, incorrect bandaging can lead to wound infection, limb necrosis and other consequences; if the wounded are not bandaged, it can cause continuous bleeding and cause death. Only timely and correct bandaging can help the wounded stop bleeding, protect the wound, and thus save lives.

Through the introduction of the above article, we learned how to bandage wounds. I hope it’s useful to you all. When we are injured, we must bandage it in time to ensure our health. I hope the patient can recover soon and create greater value. You can have a better life by making better use of your body. Knowing how to bandage wounds can help me avoid getting hurt again.
