In life, many of our friends may have undergone spinal puncture treatment due to their own illnesses. Perhaps you will encounter a problem after the treatment, that is, the sequelae of cervical puncture. The sequelae will bring pain to friends, including symptoms of pain, soreness and numbness. So how do we deal with these sequelae? Let me introduce it to you below. Lumbar puncture (abbreviated as lumbar puncture) is a method mainly used to aspirate a small amount of cerebrospinal fluid for laboratory examination for the diagnosis of certain diseases. For example, head disease, infection, bleeding, tumor, or some unexplained coma or convulsion, brain trauma, brain parasites and other diseases. Lumbar puncture can also be used for pneumoencephalography or myelography; it can also be used for anesthesia (i.e., spinal anesthesia), as is often used in lower body surgery. In addition, lumbar puncture can also be used for treatment, such as intrathecal injection of drugs. Cerebrospinal fluid is an extracellular fluid that bathes the brain and spinal cord. Therefore, when pathological changes occur in tissues such as the brain, spinal cord, meninges and blood vessels, the pressure and composition of cerebrospinal fluid may change. Therefore, collecting a small amount of cerebrospinal fluid for testing by lumbar puncture can help with diagnosis. Cerebrospinal fluid is produced by blood circulation, filtered through the capillary endothelial cells of the choroid plexus and the capillary endothelial cells in the brain, and distributed in the ventricular system and subarachnoid space. The average total volume of cerebrospinal fluid in adults is 150 ml, and its production rate is 0.35 ml per minute on average. Based on the total volume of 150 ml of cerebrospinal fluid, it can be replaced approximately once every 8 hours. This shows that the cerebrospinal fluid is replaced rapidly, which means that extracting 1 ml of cerebrospinal fluid during lumbar puncture will not cause any harmful effect on the body. So, how do patients cooperate with lumbar puncture? The most important thing is that the body posture must be correct. To widen the space between the lumbar vertebrae as much as possible, you should lie on your side and try your best to bulge your waist backwards, and bring your head and knees as close as possible - like a "shrimp" shape. You must not move while the doctor is operating to prevent the needle tip from hitting the nerve or breaking, causing serious consequences. After lumbar puncture, the patient should lie flat without a pillow and rest for 4 to 6 hours to prevent low-pressure headache after lumbar puncture. The patient can drink water appropriately. After understanding the sequelae of cervical puncture, it is recommended that everyone should use it in their daily life. Do more cervical spine exercises to prevent injuries. It brought very serious consequences to my cervical spine. Don’t worry about any sequelae that may occur. In fact, you can choose to go to the hospital for examination and treatment. |
