Everyone is affected. There are many health risks in bed

As the weather gets colder, homes become less warm. More and more people, especially young people, like to stay in bed wrapped in quilts most of the time, eat snacks, watch TV, or work on the computer.

My bed is like a restaurant

"A few strangers rented a house together. After work, they all went in through different doors and did not interfere with each other. No one ever paid attention to the TV in the living room. There was no place to sit except the bed in my room. What can I do?" Lin Lu, who works for a travel network company, told reporters helplessly when talking about her "snail house" life in the past five years. Her bedside was always piled with lots of biscuits, cooked food and other snacks for her to eat while watching TV.

Eating in bed can cause you to eat unconsciously and affect the hygiene of your sleeping area. According to the Huffington Post, at least half of the people have eaten in bed, and some even turn their beds into kitchens. The head of a pest control management consulting company said that the consequence is that a little bit of bread crumbs will attract small insects, among which the most frequent and creepy ones are ants and cockroaches.

Lou Sorkin, a forensic entomologist at the American Museum of Natural History, said different food scraps have different appeals to different insects. Sweet foods such as soda, juice, cakes, etc. will attract ants and flies. Leftover food such as cereal, hamburgers, and meat will attract ants, flies, and cockroaches.

Bringing a lot of work to bed

Compared with Lin Lu, Wang Jiannan's housing conditions are much better. He owns a two-bedroom house. However, because I am too busy with work, I go straight back to my room after washing up when I get home, open my computer on the bed to reply to emails and write plans, and fall asleep when I am tired. Once, because he was too tired, he fell asleep with his legs crossed on his laptop. When he woke up, two or three hours had passed. His legs were so numb that he couldn't straighten them, and he felt a dull pain in his knees for several days.

Nowadays, more and more people in the workplace have moved their workplace from their desks to their beds so that they can work anytime and anywhere, believing that this will make them more efficient. A survey of 1,000 office workers in California, USA, showed that nearly 50% of them said they would read or reply to emails in bed. There is even a Pulitzer Prize winner who said that many of his works were completed in bed, and the comfortable environment allowed him to have a flood of ideas.

Although it is not as comfortable as lying down, working in bed definitely does more harm than good. Sitting in bed for a long time without waist support can easily cause back, shoulder and neck pain, and compress the lower back muscles. In addition, the light from the computer screen will disrupt your biological schedule. The health problems caused by this are really not worth it. Work is valuable, but your health is more valuable. If you care about your health, don't go to bed while working.

Mattress with multiple functions is better

Zhang Nanning works as a copywriter in a company. Working at the desk for a long time has caused her and her colleagues to suffer from varying degrees of discomfort in their cervical spine. A colleague went to the hospital for an X-ray due to cervical pain. After a series of examinations and treatments, there was no improvement. Later, this colleague followed the advice of a friend and slept on a hard bed, and felt much more comfortable. Zhang Nanning was so impressed by the hard bed that when she moved to a new home and bought a mattress, she asked someone to customize a hard bed for her. However, after a few months, I felt more and more uncomfortable in my shoulders.

Don't assume that a hard bed is necessarily good for spinal health. A recent study by the Danish Back Research Center showed that women who slept on a waterbed or a memory foam mattress for a month had less back pain and better sleep quality than those who slept on a hard bed or a quilted mattress.

When buying a mattress, it is best to wear loose clothes, take off your shoes, and try it on for 10 minutes, feeling the postures of lying on your back, side, and stomach, so that the mattress can support your neck, back, waist, and knees, while ensuring that the spine is unbiased. Other fancy materials and quilts have little effect on combating lower back pain, so there's no need to spend expensive money on these extra features.

Falling on the bed after returning from outing

Many people go home tired and lie down on the bed. This is very bad. When I came back from outside, I was covered in dust. This is not what people usually call dust, but a general term for a mixture of organic and inorganic substances. Its composition is very complex. It includes dried fragments of dandruff, hair, pus scabs, blood scabs, sputum, feces, etc. excreted and dropped by the human body; there are animal and plant components such as various pollens and villi; there are soot and fumes from burning fuels and cigarettes; there are droplet nuclei formed by human breathing, coughing, and sneezing; there is dust generated by the friction between building materials and the ground; there are fluffs fallen off clothes, bedding, paper, etc. Therefore, after returning home from outside, do not sit on the bed with your clothes on, let alone sleep on the bed, so as to avoid the dust on your body and clothes contaminating the bedding and affecting your health.

Bedding is in direct contact with the human body, and the human skin secretes sebum and sweats every day, dandruff and dead epithelial cells fall off from time to time, and the dust in the air also settles continuously, and eventually falls on the bedding. Therefore, bedding should be washed and dried regularly, dried outdoors at least once a week, and washed and replaced every two or three weeks. If you often eat in bed, you should change it once a week.
