My legs feel numb when I sleep on my stomach

Due to the short lunch break, many office workers and students will lie on their desks or sleep on the tables. Lying on the table is not as comfortable as sleeping on the bed. Although it allows people to fall asleep, the human body will experience many uncomfortable reactions when sleeping on your stomach, such as bloating and numbness in the legs. But why do people's legs gradually become numb when they sleep on their stomachs?

If you lie down for a nap, your legs will naturally be in a bent state for a long time. This state will cause blood blockage and poor blood circulation. Once this happens, your feet will naturally become numb. Another very important reason is that many people's sitting posture is incorrect, so this will inevitably lead to big problems with your sleeping posture when you lie down for a nap, and the possibility of numbness in your feet will naturally be much greater.

The disadvantages of lying prone for a nap are also reflected in two aspects: the first aspect is that such a nap method will often make you sleep uneasily, in a half-asleep and half-awake state; the other aspect is that sleeping prone will cause your eyeballs to be compressed, which will lead to increased intraocular pressure over time, thereby damaging your vision. Because of this, the chance of developing glaucoma when sleeping prone will be greater.

The human body is full of meridians and pulses, each of which serves as a connection, transporting blood oxygen and replacing nutrients. As the Chinese medicine says, "If the blood and qi are unobstructed, there will be no pain; if there is pain due to obstruction", it means that only when the blood and qi flow smoothly can one feel refreshed. When a person sleeps on his or her stomach with his or her arms bent and his or her head resting on them, the center of gravity is concentrated at a certain point, naturally the arm meridians are compressed, and the legs and feet are bent for a long time, resulting in blood vessel blockage, poor blood flow, insufficient local blood and oxygen supply, and blood circulation problems. It manifests as numbness in the hands and feet and difficulty in moving, which usually disappears after a while and returns to normal.

What are the disadvantages of sleeping on your stomach?

1. People often feel anxious and sleep poorly during naps. The consciousness is in a half-asleep state, so it is easy to be frightened.

2. Secondly, sleeping on your stomach will cause your eyeballs to be compressed, and temporary blurred vision will usually occur after a nap. If this continues for a long time, it will cause high intraocular pressure and impaired vision. Over time, it will cause the eyeball to swell and the eye axis to lengthen, resulting in high myopia. It will also easily increase the incidence of glaucoma.

3. Finally, sleeping on the table for a long time has a great impact on the cervical spine. Over time, it can easily lead to spinal deformation and cause lower back pain. Because the cervical and lumbar vertebrae are excessively bent, seriously exceeding the normal bending range, and maintaining this state for a long time, not only will the cervical and lumbar muscles be tense and the small joints be in abnormal positions for a long time, but it will also cause local discomfort.
