Treatment of osteoarthritis

Treatment of osteoarthritis

The term osteoarthritis is still not well understood by most young people, and it can even be said that they have rarely come into contact with it. Osteoarthritis mainly occurs in people over the age of 50. Due to weather changes or excessive fatigue caused by excessive use of the knee joints in the past, etc. The reasons are various and vary from person to person. It mainly depends on whether the patient will cooperate with the treatment.

For patients suffering from this type of disease, the most important thing is to pay attention to rest and not to overwork often, and to protect the joints. When it comes to the treatment of osteoarthritis, there are several main aspects. Let’s take a look at the main treatments for osteoarthritis.

General treatment: pay attention to rest, avoid cold and humidity, use knee pads or braces to protect joints, avoid excessive activity that aggravates the injury, rest in bed in severe cases, and use physical therapies such as ultrashort wave and laser to relieve scars and delay the course of the disease.

Method 1: Protect joints: Limit weight-bearing activities on joints, avoid standing for too long or walking long distances, and use a cane to reduce the load on the affected joints; those who are overweight should lose weight; pay attention to keeping the affected joints warm and avoid wind and cold;

In severe cases, short-term bed rest and complete immobilization are required.

Method 2: Improve awareness of prevention: Patients should understand the harmfulness of the disease and the importance of early treatment, improve their awareness of risk factors, eliminate and avoid pathogenic factors, and at the same time build confidence in defeating the disease.

Method 3: Local physical therapy: In the acute phase, if the joints are hot and swollen, local cold compresses should be applied first, and hot compresses can be applied after the fever and swelling subside. Infrared, ultrashort wave, acupuncture, wax therapy, massage, etc. can also be used in the chronic stage.

Therefore, you might as well try the treatment methods for osteoarthritis introduced above, which may be beneficial to your condition. In addition, patients can also consider going out for a walk when they get up in the morning, which is also better. The most important thing is that the disease should be treated patiently, and patients should be relaxed.
