What is rum

Many people don’t know what rum is, so it is necessary to introduce rum to you here. Rum is a distilled liquor produced with sugarcane and molasses as the main raw materials. It has a sweet taste and a good aroma. Rum is a high-end liquor that was first produced in Cuba and has gradually spread throughout the world. Rum is also called rum. Rum is as famous as other well-known liquors such as whiskey and brandy.

Everyone is familiar with sugarcane, which has a high sugar content. Rum is made from sugar juice squeezed from sugar cane, which is fermented and distilled. The main production characteristics of this kind of wine are: selecting special ester-producing yeast and adding bacteria that produce organic acids, fermenting them together, and then distilling and aging them.

Rum is a by-product of the sugar industry. It uses cane sugar as raw material, which is first made into molasses, then fermented and distilled, and stored in oak barrels for more than 3 years. According to different raw materials and brewing methods, rum can be divided into: white rum, old rum, light rum, regular rum, strong rum, etc. It contains 38% to 50% alcohol and the liquor is amber, brown, or colorless.

Cuban rum, Cuban coffee and Cuban cigars are Cuba's three most famous products.

Rum Type

According to the flavor characteristics, rum can be divided into: strong aroma type and light aroma type:

Strong-aroma type: First, the cane sugar is clarified, and then butyric acid-producing bacteria and alcohol-producing yeast are added. Fermentation takes more than 10 days, and intermittent distillation is performed in a pot to obtain about 86% colorless original rum. After being stored in wooden barrels for many years, it is blended into a golden or light brown finished wine.

Light aroma type: Only yeast is added to sugarcane sugar, the fermentation period is short, and tower continuous distillation is used to produce 95% alcohol raw liquor, which is stored and blended to become a light yellow to golden finished liquor, represented by Cuban rum.

Rum can be drunk alone, mixed with other drinks to make delicious cocktails, drunk as an aperitif during dinner, or drunk after dinner. It is an excellent companion at important banquets. Rum is one of the most consumed liquors in the world. The alcohol content of rum is very low, so you can taste it slowly and drink it slowly.
