Cancer patients reveal 6 bad habits that cause cancer

"When you are at the critical point of life and death, you will find that any overtime, pressure, and the need to buy a house or a car are all clouds. If you have time, spend it with your children. Use the money you would have spent on a car to buy your parents a pair of shoes. Don't try desperately to get a bigger house. Being with the one you love, even a small apartment can be warm." This is the dying insight of Yu Juan, a 32-year-old female teacher with advanced breast cancer.

1. Overeating is harmful to your health.

"I am a casual person. I like to drink wine in big bowls and eat meat in big mouthfuls. When I was studying, my supervisor had six graduate students, and I was the only girl. But during dinner parties, the five boys didn't eat more than me. Even after I started working, I still endured the back pain (actually it was already late-stage bone metastasis) to participate in the Yangcheng Lake trip organized by the hospital and ate seven crabs a day."

Experts say:

A Japanese study pointed out that people who "eat very full at every meal" are more likely to develop cancer than those who "basically only eat until they are 80% full". Professor He Yumin, chairman of the Psychosomatic Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association and doctoral supervisor at Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, suggested that in order to eat only until you are 80% full, you might as well try the following tips: start eating when you feel a little hungry, and eat each meal at a fixed time to avoid eating too much and too fast when you are too hungry; eat for at least 20 minutes, because it will take 20 minutes from the start of eating for the brain to receive the signal that you are full; use a small spoon instead of chopsticks, and chew each mouthful of rice more than 30 times to slow down your pace.

2. It is not advisable to be addicted to meat.

"Before I got sick, I would lose interest in a meal if there was no meat on the table. Even if I ate a lot, I felt like I hadn't eaten anything. There was no concept of healthy eating at that time, and there was a shortage of material resources in a small northern city, so meat was scarce. I only ate meat dishes."

Experts say:

People who cannot live without meat are prone to obesity, coronary heart disease, tumors and other problems. Adequate intake of vegetable and fruit fiber can reduce the incidence of several cancers, including colorectal cancer and breast cancer. To ensure the body's needs, you should eat more than 400 grams of vegetables every day and no more than 75 grams of meat, which is equivalent to the size of a deck of cards. Dr. Rachel Thompson, scientific project manager of the World Cancer Research Fund, recommends: Tomatoes can reduce the risk of prostate cancer, broccoli, cabbage and bean sprouts can reduce the risk of digestive system cancer, and strawberries, onions and garlic all contain ingredients that inhibit tumor growth.

3. Staying up late and going to bed late are not good for you.

"Looking back over the past ten years, I have basically never gone to bed before midnight. Studying and preparing for the postgraduate entrance exam were legitimate reasons, but at the same time, I filled every night with online chatting, BBS spamming, clubbing, karaoke, bowling, and being alone. When I was very busy, I would stay up all night, and when I went to bed early, it was basically before 1 a.m."

Experts say:

The statement that "staying up late for a long time is equivalent to chronic suicide" is not an exaggeration. The British Scientific Cancer Research Center studied more than 1,000 cancer patients aged 30-50 from all over the world and found that 99.3% of them stayed up late all year round and would not rest until after midnight. Zuo Wenshu, executive committee member of the China Anti-Cancer Association and chief physician of the Shandong Cancer Prevention and Treatment Institute, told reporters that staying up late for a long time will affect the nerve center, interfere with the endocrine system, affect the immune mechanism, and make people more susceptible to cancer. It is best not to stay up later than 12 o'clock. If you work overtime until the early morning, it is best to find a room with blackout curtains to sleep in. The dark environment helps the production of melatonin in the body.

4. Cramming and working too hard.

"Whenever I remember to study hard, it's almost two weeks before the exam. I'll torture myself like a beast, working non-stop day and night, forgetting to eat and sleep, working so hard that it's unbearable... My highest record is reading for 21 hours a day, and studying for two and a half days before the exam. After each round of exams, I'm so exhausted that I have to sleep for two or three days to recover."

Experts say:

Lymphoma, liver cancer and lung cancer are listed as the top three cancers. Sun Lingyu, from the Department of Oncology Surgery at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, said that although excessive fatigue does not directly lead to cancer, it can cause recurrent and aggravated liver and lung diseases, and eventually induce cancer. Therefore, do not overwork, do not work overtime too late, do not overly stressful working hours, ensure 8 hours of sleep every day, and ensure a certain amount of leisure time and fitness activities on Saturdays and Sundays to adjust your mood. You can also do more activities to purify your mind in your daily life, such as sitting quietly, meditating, listening to spiritual music, etc.

5. The seeds planted by formaldehyde furniture.

"Ten years ago, I lived in a relative's new house in Pudong. It was a new house, newly decorated, and had new furniture. In 2009, my wife began to study nano-activated carbon for removing formaldehyde. One time, when doing an experiment, she turned on the formaldehyde tester, and the test index of the furniture was like a bolt from the blue. Generally speaking, a value above 0.08 is dangerous to the body, but the index on the screen was 0.87. Six months later, I was diagnosed with breast cancer."

Experts say:

The pungent smell of the renovations is much more terrible than the gray sky outside. Song Guangsheng, director of the National Indoor Environment Quality Inspection Center, suggested that windows must be opened for ventilation during renovation; use less artificial boards; put less new furniture in small rooms, as formaldehyde, benzene, etc. always like to hide in new furniture, and even if you can't smell the pungent smell, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist; use less marble and granite, as radon has become the second largest cause of lung cancer, and it mainly hides in granite, marble, etc.; use less oil-based paint, as water-based paint is much more environmentally friendly; and let the room air dry for at least two or three months after renovation before moving in.

6. The competitive character should be changed.

"I have come into contact with about 30 to 50 patients intermittently. I found that there are very few introverted and gloomy breast cancer patients. On the contrary, too many people have a tendency to be controlling, power-hungry, competitive, impatient, and extroverted. This made me start to reflect on myself: I like to be competitive too much, I like to do everything the best, I like to control the overall situation too much, I like to worry too much, and I am too unwilling to be mediocre."

Experts say:

Researchers at Kifissia Oncology Hospital in Athens surveyed 448 women undergoing breast screening and found that those who were hostile and aggressive were most likely to be diagnosed with breast cancer. He Yumin reminds that if you feel that the things in life that make you angry are like obstacles that you can't get over, your thoughts are stuck in a dead end, and the depressed mentality lasts for a particularly long time, more than one or two years, you should be careful. An open mind and a happy mood are the "natural enemies" of cancer cells. Don't make unnecessary associations about the consequences of things. Make more friends, plant flowers and raise birds, read good books, and bask in the sun often.
