Tumor painkillers

Tumor painkillers

For many patients when the disease reaches the late stage, the tumor becomes larger and larger. In addition to cooperating with the treatment, the patient's body is also extremely weak and in great pain. Some painkillers are needed to relieve the patient's pain. Generally, it is treated by using painkillers, but each person's body's tolerance to painkillers is different, and painkillers cannot be taken indiscriminately. How should patients with tumors choose painkillers?

There are many strong pain relievers to choose from for cancer pain.

1. Morphine hydrochloride sustained-release tablets must be swallowed whole and cannot be cut or chewed. Morphine is a representative drug for treating severe cancer pain. Morphine hydrochloride sustained-release tablets are powerful analgesics, mainly used for analgesia in patients with advanced cancer. Adults should take the medicine once every 12 hours. The dosage should be determined based on the severity of the pain, age and history of taking analgesics, and there may be large differences between individuals. For those who first use this product, it is advisable to start with 10 mg or 20 mg every 12 hours, adjust the dose according to the analgesic effect, and increase the dose at any time to achieve the purpose of pain relief.

2. Oxycodone sustained-release tablets. It is effective for relieving persistent moderate to severe pain. The tablet must be swallowed whole and should not be broken, chewed or ground. If the tablet is broken, chewed, or ground, it may result in rapid release of oxycodone and absorption of a potentially lethal amount. Take once every 12 hours, and the dosage depends on the patient's pain severity and previous analgesic use history. As pain levels increase, the dosage needs to be increased to achieve pain relief. For all patients, the appropriate dosage is one that can control pain for 12 hours and is well tolerated by the patient. Except for uncontrolled adverse reactions, the dosage should be titrated until the patient's pain is relieved.

3. Fentanyl transdermal patch. It is the best choice for patients who cannot take oral painkillers or who need to use painkillers for a long time but cannot tolerate intramuscular injections. Fentanyl is an opioid analgesic that primarily interacts with the μ-opioid receptor.

At the same time, experts remind that painkillers in the late stage of cancer must not be taken indiscriminately and are best taken under the guidance of a professional doctor. The first thing to note when taking painkillers for advanced cancer is to take the medication in sufficient doses in a timely manner as directed by the doctor. The type, dosage, route and time of medication must be correctly understood according to the doctor's instructions. For patients who have severe nausea, vomiting, or difficulty swallowing due to their condition or treatment, pain medication should be specifically given.

Although painkillers can temporarily relieve patients' pain, as the disease worsens and the dosage increases, the effect of painkillers will weaken, and patients can easily become dependent on them. In the end, patients still cannot fundamentally solve the problem of pain. Therefore, to treat the pain in the late stage of cancer, it is necessary to treat the cancer fundamentally. Only in this way can patients be truly treated and their pain relieved.

Many patients prefer traditional Chinese medicine treatment. Almost all cancer patients have three basic pathological conditions at the same time: deficiency of vital energy, phlegm and blood stasis, and accumulation of cancer toxins. He summarized them in three words, namely: "deficiency", "stasis" and "toxins".

"Deficiency" refers to deficiency of vital energy, or deficiency of vital energy, deficiency of qi, blood, yin and yang, and low immunity; "stasis" refers to stagnation of qi and blood, accumulation of phlegm and dampness, and poor meridian function, including neurological disorders, endocrine disorders, and imbalance in the physiological functions of internal organs; "poison" refers to cancer poison, which includes two aspects: one is the invasion and destruction of human tissues and organs by cancer cells, and the other is the harm brought to the body by the metabolic products of cancer cells. Therefore, in treatment, supporting vital energy, eliminating phlegm and blood stasis, and attacking cancer toxins are all indispensable.

Traditional Chinese medicine can grasp the key pathogenesis - "deficiency", "stasis" and "toxicity", take a comprehensive approach, adopt the three major countermeasures of "strengthening the body", "dredging" and "detoxifying", focus on the use of drugs, and use drugs based on the specific conditions of the patients to remedy the three aspects of strengthening the body, tonifying deficiency, dredging and removing stasis, and attacking and removing toxins, so as to achieve the fundamental purpose of regulating the balance of the body's yin and yang, qi and blood, and the physiological functions of the internal organs. Fundamentally solve the pain of patients with advanced cancer and have no side effects on patients.
