Six precautions to help maintain health during the Grain in Ear solar term

The Grain in Ear solar term means that the temperature will rise further and summer will enter its peak. The editor reminds everyone that you should pay attention to health preservation in summer, change clothes frequently, eat a light diet, drink some mung bean soup, beware of heat colds, pay attention to health preservation details, and prevent winter diseases in advance.

Symptoms and health preservation during Grain in Ear Festival

Prevent heart disease

During the Grain in Ear solar term, the temperature is higher, the humidity is greater, and the heart load gradually increases. People with heart disease and coronary heart disease should pay attention to maintenance, stay up late less, avoid excessive work stress, and have a rhythm in life. They can eat some heart-maintaining medicinal foods, such as 5 grams of Ophiopogon japonicus and 5 grams of longan meat soaked in water to drink. Those with qi deficiency and fatigue can add 3 grams of American ginseng, or longan, lotus meat, jujube, millet and rock sugar porridge, or Ophiopogon japonicus, longan meat, wolfberry and chrysanthemum tea.

Prevent mouth sores

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the heart and small intestine are the exterior and interior of each other. From the beginning of Grain in Ear, dampness and heat become heavier. If dampness and heat accumulate inside, the heart fire is heavy, and heat accumulates in the small intestine, there will be short and yellow urine, red tongue with yellow coating, constipation, and mouth and tongue ulcers. You should eat less spicy and hot foods, such as white wine, mutton, etc. Eat more cucumbers, green vegetables, and mung beans.

You can use 3 grams of bamboo leaves, 5 grams of Ophiopogon japonicus, and 3 grams of honeysuckle to make tea. If constipation occurs, add 2 grams of rhubarb. If you experience frequent urination or painful urination, you should see a doctor.

Beware of heat cold

It is easy to catch a cold in the summer, which is called "heat cold" in traditional Chinese medicine. It causes runny nose, nasal congestion, sneezing, and sometimes fever, headache, and some people may also experience vomiting and diarrhea. In terms of diet, you can drink mung bean soup, honeysuckle dew, chrysanthemum tea, and reed root flowers to clear away heat and relieve summer heat. At the same time, avoid greasy, sticky, sour, spicy foods, such as glutinous rice, fried foods, sea fish, and sweets.

Use supplements with caution. Do not eat warm supplements such as ginseng, cordyceps, placenta, deer antler, etc. when you have a fever. Also do not eat mutton or dog meat.

Prevent gynecological diseases

Women are prone to excessive and yellow leucorrhea. They should eat less spicy and hot food, and eat more foods that clear away heat and dampness, such as mung beans. They should also often eat foods that strengthen the spleen and eliminate dampness, such as coix seed, yam, white lentil, and rice porridge.

Anti-fungal

Go to bed late and get up early to get appropriate sunlight exposure (avoid direct sunlight and take precautions against heatstroke) to conform to the fullness of Yang energy, facilitate the circulation of Qi and blood, and invigorate the spirit. After Grain in Ear, the weather becomes hot at noon and people tend to sweat, so clothes should be washed and changed frequently.

To avoid heatstroke, you should take a bath frequently after Grain in Ear. This will make the skin loose and the "yang heat" easier to vent. But one thing to note is that you should not take a shower immediately after sweating. There is an old Chinese saying, "Sweat does not cause moisture." If "sweat causes moisture, acne will occur."

Prevent diabetes

Health experts of all dynasties believed that the diet in summer should be light and nourishing. From a nutritional point of view, a light diet plays an irreplaceable role in health preservation. In addition, people are warned not to eat food that is too salty or too sweet. Eating too much salt will cause excess sodium ions in the body, which will increase blood pressure and even cause cerebrovascular dysfunction.

Eating too much sweets can easily lead to the accumulation of intermediate products such as sucrose, which can lead to hyperlipidemia and hypercholesterolemia, and in severe cases can even induce diabetes.
