Pain on the edge of fingernails

Pain on the edge of fingernails

The main material component of fingernails is protein, and fingernails are relatively hard, which can effectively protect the fingers. The growth shape of a person's fingernails is different. Some people's fingernails are round, while others' are square. If you find that the edge of your fingernails is inexplicably painful, you should consider whether it is caused by paronychia. Next, let’s take a look at some tips to prevent paronychia.

1. Pain near the nails and suppuration after a few days

Treatment:

The affected limb can be elevated in the triangle to relieve pain. It can be disinfected with iodine tincture and the local area should be kept clean and dry.

Strengthen dressing changes to maintain smooth drainage. When pus appears under the nail groove, you should go to the hospital for incision to facilitate drainage.

It is recommended to use Jia Gou Kang for treatment as early as possible. It can relieve pain on the day of use, reduce swelling and blood stasis in 3-5 days, and cure ingrown toenails in 2-3 courses of treatment. Patients with paronychia who have repeated nail extraction can return to normal after 4-5 courses of treatment without recurrence.

2. Tips for preventing paronychia

Usually, you should pay attention to the cleanliness of the skin around your nails. You can apply some hand cream after washing your hands or before going to bed at night, which will help enhance the skin's ability to resist bacteria around your nails.

Nails should not be left too long, as it is easy to get bumped and cause bruises or damage to the nails. But they should not be cut too short either, as there is no nail cover to protect when scraping or picking things, which can easily cause damage to the nail tip.

3. Clinical manifestations of paronychia

Acute paronychia often occurs after trauma. The symptoms are severe pain and suppuration. This disease occurs suddenly, so it is generally well controlled and treated in the hospital.

One is chronic paronychia, which may cause infection due to repeated trauma to the hands, long-term immersion of hands in water due to the working environment, or frequent contact with allergic substances.

Recipes for treating paronychia

1. Add 1 gram each of green tea leaves, black sesame seeds and fine salt to a little saline solution and mash into a paste. After routine skin disinfection, apply the medicine to the paronychia, change the medicine once a day, and use it continuously for 2 to 4 times. Do not let the affected area get wet during the application of the medicine.

2. Take equal parts of Coptis chinensis and Rhubarb, pick them clean, dry them, grind them into powder and set aside. Before use, mix it with vinegar (if used for children, the vinegar can be diluted), apply it to the affected area, and change it after cleaning every day.

3. Remove the thorns from 50 grams of fresh cactus and mash it into a paste. Add 2 grams of salt and 6 to 8 drops of safflower oil. Mix well and put in a container for later use. Prepare on the same day. During treatment, apply an appropriate amount of the above ointment to the affected area and bandage it with gauze, changing the dressing once in the morning and evening every day.

4. Wash an appropriate amount of fresh verbena, mix it with a little salt and mash it, apply it to the affected area and bandage it. Change the dressing once a day. Generally, the symptoms will be relieved in 1 to 3 days and the patient will be cured in 5 days. Verbena can clear away heat and detoxify, reduce swelling, relieve blood stasis and discharge pus, has inhibitory effects on a variety of bacteria, and has rich medicinal sources.

5. Take black plums, wrap them with a wet towel, take out the flesh and remove the core after it is moistened, apply the inner surface of the black plum flesh to the affected area and fix it. Change the dressing once in the morning and evening. Most patients can recover within 1 to 3 days. If pus has formed, you can use anti-inflammatory drugs first, and then use the above method after the pus is drained.
