Zhonglibaren-"Spoiled" Lungs in Autumn

Zhonglibaren-"Spoiled" Lungs in Autumn

If there is no dual invasion from inside and outside, the lungs will not get sick, so how can we talk about nourishing them? The invasion from the outside world is mainly cold. If the cold air is not expelled in time, it will invade the body through the pores and damage the lungs. Therefore, preventing the invasion of cold air is an important part of lung care. The invasion from within is mainly caused by liver fire, so eliminating liver fire can also nourish the lungs.

According to the Five Elements theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine , the lungs belong to the element of metal. Autumn is the time when the lung's internal energy is at its most active and its functions are the strongest. We can take advantage of the weather to nourish our lungs. In traditional Chinese medicine theory, the lungs have two main functions: one is to spread and the other is to descend. The symptoms are mainly manifested through sweating, coughing and runny nose. The function of descending and purifying is mainly manifested in two aspects: one is to regulate the water channels and transport them to the bladder; the other is to promote the intestines and excrete waste. However, the function of Sujiang can usually only be perceived from a pathological state. As the saying goes, "Good cannot be seen, but evil can be seen." That is to say, when its function is normal, you can't see its effect at all, but when it is abnormal, symptoms will appear. Many constipation patients do not have hard stools, but rather the stool is unable to move downward; others have difficulty urinating, which takes a long time. These are all directly related to the failure of the lungs to descend.

Where does the power of the lung to spread and descend come from? It comes from the middle qi, which is the qi of the spleen and lungs. Many Chinese herbal preparations can replenish the middle Qi, such as Shenling Baizhu Pills, which can both strengthen the spleen and nourish the lungs in a mild and unbiased manner; Buzhong Yiqi Pills, as its name suggests, but its function is to raise the Qi of the liver and kidneys to replenish the middle Qi, and it is not suitable for people with liver and kidney deficiency. There is an acupoint on the lung meridian called "Zhongfu", which is the palace of middle qi and the place where middle qi gathers. Therefore, it is an important acupoint for regulating and replenishing middle qi. Taiyuan point is the original point of the lung meridian. The nature of the point is earth, and earth can produce gold. It has the strongest power to replenish the middle Qi. Massage and moxibustion are both effective. In addition, yam and barley porridge is also a good product for replenishing the middle qi.

Some people say, I don’t want to take medicine because it is poisonous to some extent; I don’t want to drink porridge because it is inconvenient. Is there any other way to nourish the lungs? In fact, if there is no dual invasion from inside and outside, the lungs will not get sick, so how can we talk about nourishing them? The invasion from the outside world is mainly cold . If the cold air is not expelled in time, it will invade the body through the pores and damage the lungs. Therefore, preventing the invasion of cold air is an important part of lung care. The invasion from within is mainly due to liver fire. The liver belongs to wood, and liver fire hurts the lungs, which Chinese medicine calls "wood fire punishing metal." Although the liver fire is strong, it will not harm the lungs if it can be eliminated in time. Therefore, eliminating the liver fire can also nourish the lungs. The Yuji point is a fire point on the lung meridian. Pressing it can eliminate lung heat and cough caused by excessive liver fire. If you massage Taichong to Xingjian of the Liver Meridian more often on a daily basis, the liver fire can be dispersed in time, the fire will not overcome the metal, and the lungs will naturally be free from internal problems.

Some people are born with insufficient lung qi, no fire power in the body, are afraid of cold, speak in a low voice, are out of breath when moving, inhale very little oxygen, and always feel like they can't breathe in . This is called "kidney failure to accept qi." The kidney is the root of Qi. Any congenital weakness should be treated from the kidney. You can use moxibustion on the Mingmen point on the Du meridian, the Shenshu point on the waist, the Guanyuan point below the navel, and the Taixi point on the kidney meridian. The method of moxibustion warms the meridians and dredges blood vessels, and has a long-lasting effect. It is a wonderful way to replenish lung deficiency in autumn.

There is another type of person who has excessive liver fire and strong lungs. They have a bad temper but are very good at controlling themselves from getting angry (metal can control wood). Such people often feel chest tightness and shortness of breath. At this time, you can press and massage the Chize point on the lung meridian. "Chi" here does not refer to size, but implies the kidneys (Chinese medicine uses "Cun, Guan, Chi" to diagnose pulse, and "Chi" is exactly the reaction point of the kidney pulse); "Ze" means rain and dew, which is extended to irrigation. From this, we can know that this acupoint has the meaning of nourishing the kidney. Chize point is the He point of the Lung Meridian and belongs to water. When metal energy turns into water, the lung qi will not stagnate in the chest. Water can contain wood, and the liver fire will be calmed by the water. Therefore, this point can treat hypertension, asthma, and enuresis with fullness on the upper body and emptiness on the lower body.

The above methods can be used according to personal constitution. But there is a simpler method, which can connect the pores of the nasal cavity above and the front and back orifices below, connecting heaven and earth, and accomplish the function of the lungs in one fell swoop, and that is the "sneezing method". For example, if the stool is unable to move downward due to insufficient Qi in the middle, you can sneeze while defecating. With the help of the recoil force, the stool can be passed easily. If you have difficulty urinating, you can also try this method. Sneezing is a wonderful way to exercise lung function. You must make good use of it to appreciate its benefits. For allergies, cold syndrome, qi stagnation, and skin diseases, sneezing can be used to cure them in one go. This method comes from instinct, so it has innate magical power.
