Can chestnuts and eggs be eaten together?

Ingredients: 200g peeled chestnuts, 3 eggs, 10 large red dates, 100g Dagu donkey-hide gelatin and brown sugar

What can't chestnuts be eaten with?

1. Lamb

Chestnuts cannot be eaten together with mutton, because both chestnuts and mutton are very hot foods. If you eat them at the same time, it is easy to cause getting a sore throat. Furthermore, both are difficult to digest, and it is not suitable to stew or stir-fry them together. Eating them together may even cause vomiting.

2. Tofu

Tofu contains magnesium chloride and calcium sulfate, while chestnuts contain oxalic acid. The two foods together can produce magnesium oxalate and calcium oxalate. These two white precipitates not only affect the body's absorption of calcium, but also easily lead to stones. Similarly, tofu cannot be eaten with bamboo shoots, wild rice stems, spinach, etc.

3. Almonds

Because almonds contain a high amount of oil and can easily cause diarrhea, they cannot be eaten with chestnuts. Almonds are hot foods and are slightly toxic. Eating too much can damage the muscles and bones and cause recurrence of old diseases. However, chestnuts contain more vitamin C. Therefore, if you eat chestnuts and almonds together, you will experience stomach pain. If you already have stomach problems, it will cause a relapse.

4. Beef

The vitamins in chestnuts easily react with the trace elements in beef, which weakens the nutritional value of chestnuts and makes them difficult to digest. Beef is warm in nature, and it has the effects of nourishing the spleen and stomach, strengthening the waist and legs, and replenishing the middle and benefiting qi; while chestnuts are salty and warm in nature, and have the effects of nourishing the kidney qi, replenishing qi and thickening the intestines and stomach.

From the perspective of food and medicinal properties alone, there is no contradiction between the two; but from the perspective of nutritional content, chestnuts are rich in vitamin C, with 40 mg of vitamin C in every 100 grams of chestnuts. However, beef contains carotene, B vitamins and fatty acids. The vitamin C in chestnuts will react chemically with the trace elements in beef, thus losing the original nutritional value of the chestnuts. Moreover, eating chestnuts and beef can cause symptoms of bloating, vomiting and indigestion. Therefore, beef should not be eaten with chestnuts. It is best to eat them separately after a period of time.
