Why is the tip of my nose red and itchy?

The skin on the face needs careful care to be in good condition. If the skin is neglected, various problems may arise. For example, redness and itching of the nose tip are common manifestations, which make patients feel helpless. Not only does the skin feel uncomfortable, but the psychological pressure is also relatively high. Many people do not understand why the nose tip becomes red and itchy. What causes the nose tip to become red and itchy? Let’s take a look at it next.

1. What causes the tip of your nose to become red and itchy?

It could be a sign of rosacea. Rosacea, also known as rosacea, is a chronic inflammatory skin disease characterized by erythema and dilated capillaries that occur primarily in the central part of the face. It is more common in middle-aged people aged 30 to 50, especially in women.

2. Causes

The cause is not yet fully understood. It may be due to the action of various harmful factors inside and outside the body on the basis of sebum secretion, which causes the vasomotor nerve dysfunction and long-term dilation of capillaries in the affected area. Trichocystis and repeated local infection are important factors for the onset of the disease. Alcoholism, smoking, spicy diet, gastrointestinal dysfunction, endocrine dysfunction (especially during menopause), mental factors, lesion infection, and long-term exposure to hot and cold factors on the skin such as high-temperature work, sun exposure, cold, wind, etc. can all induce and aggravate this disease.

3. Treatment policy

Since the cause of the disease is unknown, treatment is mostly symptomatic, focusing on preventing factors that aggravate the disease, adjusting endocrine function, and correcting gastrointestinal dysfunction. Use systemic drug treatment, local antibacterial and anti-inflammatory medication, as well as physical and surgical treatment as appropriate.

IV. Drug treatment

1. You can choose clindamycin gel, benzoyl peroxide gel, fusidic acid cream, mupirocin ointment, etc. You can also choose metronidazole gel, tinidazole gel, low-concentration retinoic acid preparations, etc. It has bactericidal and anti-inflammatory effects, promotes the regression of erythematous papules and pustules, and maintenance use of the medication can reduce recurrence.

2. Choose antibiotics such as metronidazole, tetracycline, and clarithromycin. For those who do not respond to antibiotic treatment, small doses of isotretinoin can be taken orally. Estrogen treatment also has a certain effect on postmenopausal patients with severe rosacea.

5. Diet adjustment

Avoid smoking, drinking coffee, and eating spicy and irritating foods, and avoid overeating. Keep your bowel movements regular. Eat more fruits and vegetables.

6. Daily care

Avoid using alkaline soaps, alcohol, detergents, dyes, astringents, etc. that irritate the skin, and avoid exposure to the sun, excessive cold or heat. Live a regular life and avoid mental stress.
