What causes throat cancer

The occurrence of laryngeal cancer is usually caused by the combined effects of genetics, environmental factors, lifestyle habits and related diseases, among which smoking, drinking and infection are the main high-risk factors. To prevent and deal with laryngeal cancer, it is crucial to understand the cause as early as possible and change bad habits.

1. Genetic factors:

If there is a history of cancer in the family, the risk of developing throat cancer may increase. This is mainly related to the susceptibility of genetic genes, especially certain genes related to cell mutations are more susceptible to cancer. If there is such a family background, regular health screening is essential to detect and treat it early.

2 Environmental factors:

Long-term exposure to industrial pollutants such as asbestos, soot, wood dust and heavy metals, air pollution, and chemical irritants in the work environment can significantly increase the risk of throat cancer. It is recommended to wear appropriate protective equipment, such as masks or ventilation equipment, while minimizing exposure time.

3 Lifestyle habits:

Smoking and drinking are the biggest risk factors for laryngeal cancer. These two behaviors will cause continuous stimulation to the throat tissue, causing cells to become cancerous. To prevent laryngeal cancer, quitting smoking and drinking is the most important first step. At the same time, improper eating habits such as excessive intake of pickled, grilled and overheated food may also increase the risk of cancer. It is recommended to consume more fresh fruits and vegetables and a light diet.

4 Physiological and infectious factors:

Chronic pharyngitis, reflux esophagitis and other long-term inflammation may induce throat cancer. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is also a major cause of throat cancer, especially oral infection. To prevent infection, it is recommended to pay attention to personal hygiene and reduce high-risk behaviors.

5. Traumatic and pathological factors:

Repeated trauma, surgery or radiation exposure to the throat may cause chronic tissue lesions or even cancer. If you have discomfort in your throat, such as hoarseness or sore throat, and it lasts for a long time, you should go to an ENT doctor as soon as possible.

Laryngeal cancer is the result of the interaction of multiple factors, and it requires comprehensive prevention from all aspects of life. Quitting smoking and limiting alcohol consumption, maintaining a healthy diet, and regular screening are all essential. If you already have throat discomfort symptoms or high-risk factors, you should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible so that the risk can be identified in time and effective treatment measures can be taken.
