What causes right ovarian teratoma?

The formation of right ovarian teratoma may be related to abnormal cell division during embryonic development, and the specific cause has not yet been fully clarified. If you have symptoms such as abdominal pain and irregular menstruation, you should seek medical attention in time and treat it after a clear diagnosis.

Ovarian teratoma is a common ovarian tumor, usually a mature teratoma, also called a "dermoid cyst". Its formation may be related to the abnormal development of primordial germ cells during the embryonic period. These cells may "get lost" after dividing in the embryonic stage, and stay in the ovary and form a tumor. In this case, the tumor may contain tissue components such as hair and teeth. Although scientists have not yet fully explored the specific mechanism, genetics, changes in hormone levels or abnormal growth environment inside the body may also play a certain role.

Right ovarian teratomas are generally benign and grow slowly in most cases without obvious symptoms. However, if the tumor grows or twists, it may cause discomfort, bloating, or even acute abdominal pain in the lower abdomen. Tumor growth may compress surrounding organs, causing abnormal urination or defecation, and some women may notice changes in their menstrual cycle. In rare cases, this type of teratoma may also become malignant, so regular screening is particularly important.

Benign ovarian teratomas are usually found through imaging tests, such as ultrasound or CT. If a teratoma is confirmed, appropriate treatment methods can be selected under the guidance of a doctor, including laparoscopic surgical resection. Regular follow-up examinations are required after surgery to monitor for recurrence. If the symptoms are mild or the size is small, close follow-up monitoring can be performed according to the doctor's advice without excessive worry. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can also help reduce the risk of tumor growth and other gynecological diseases.
