Classification of talus fractures

Classification of talus fractures

In the case of talus fracture, the patient will first experience severe pain, no matter where the fracture occurs, the patient will feel it obviously. Then there will be difficulty in bearing weight in the lower limbs, swelling in the ankle, etc. General talus fractures can be divided into five types, you can learn about them.

What are the symptoms of a talus fracture dislocation?

Common symptoms: severe pain, difficulty bearing weight on the lower limbs, obvious tenderness, loss of active joint movement, ankle swelling

Ankle swelling, severe pain, obvious tenderness, loss of active joint movement, and difficulty bearing weight on the lower limbs.

Talus fractures are generally divided into the following 5 types:

1. Talus head fracture: mostly comminuted, less common.

2. Talus neck fracture: It is more common and can be divided into different types depending on the fracture situation.

(1) Simple talar neck fracture without dislocation signs.

(2) Talus neck fracture with posterior dislocation of the talus body. This type is more complicated and may cause many problems in the later stages.

3. Talus body fracture: can also be divided into 3 types:

(1) Non-displaced talar body fracture.

(2) Displaced talar body fracture.

(3) Comminuted talar body fracture.

4. Posterior process of talus fracture: easily confused with triangular bone block

5. Talus cartilage fracture: It is mostly caused by lighter violence, especially when it is hit in a twisted state.

Generally, there is no difficulty and the diagnosis can be made based on the patient's history of trauma, clinical symptoms and X-ray films (anteroposterior, lateral and oblique). Its main clinical symptoms are swelling, pain and limited movement of the ankle joint. The tenderness points are mostly limited to the area below the ankle joint and are consistent with the location of the fracture classification and the course of the fracture line. Except for those with fractures of the posterior process of the talus, the weight-bearing function of the lower limbs is often impaired.
