What is Breast Cancer

What is Breast Cancer

Breast cancer refers to a malignant tumor in the breast, that is, cancer cells originate from the lobules of the mammary duct epithelium. The incidence of breast cancer is very high, ranking among the top malignant tumors. In developed countries such as Europe and the United States, the incidence of breast cancer ranks first among malignant tumors. Due to the improvement of sanitary conditions and living conditions in China, the incidence of cervical cancer has been significantly reduced, while the incidence of breast cancer and lung cancer has been significantly increased, especially in China's coastal areas or developed cities such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The mortality rate of breast cancer patients is second only to lung cancer, which seriously threatens women's health.

Is breast cancer hereditary?

Studies have shown that more than 90% of breast cancers are not inherited and are sporadic breast cancers; 5%-10% of breast cancers have a genetic tendency. Hereditary breast cancer is closely related to genes. If a patient's BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutates, the incidence of breast cancer will increase significantly. In general, the patient's family history can be used to determine whether it is hereditary breast cancer. If multiple mothers or sisters have breast cancer, it indicates that it may be hereditary breast cancer, and hereditary breast cancer often occurs in young patients.

How to prevent breast cancer

In terms of breast cancer prevention, the country has been promoting breast cancer screening and striving for early detection and early treatment. The incidence of breast cancer ranks first among female tumors. The number of new cases can reach more than 200,000 each year. To prevent the disease, pay attention to the following aspects: 1. Self-examination: Female friends can learn how to self-examine their breasts through the Internet or face-to-face consultation; 2. Treatment: Once female friends find breast abnormalities, they should seek medical examination and diagnosis in time; 3. Physical examination: Women over 35 years old are recommended to have a breast B-ultrasound examination once a year, which can be used to preliminarily screen for lumps and determine the pathological type. If lumps are found, determine whether regular reexamination or puncture biopsy is needed based on the examination results.
