What are the dietary recommendations for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and what should be paid attention to?

What are the recommended diet recipes for nasopharyngeal cancer? What else should we pay attention to in our diet?

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma often occurs in the pharyngeal recess and the anterior wall of the nasopharynx. The lesions can be nodular, ulcerative, submucosal infiltrates, etc. Most of them are poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinomas. Others may be adenocarcinomas, undifferentiated carcinomas, etc. Diet therapy plays an important role in the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

1. Fig stewed meat: 120g fresh figs, 60g dried figs, 120g lean pork, wash and cut into pieces, add appropriate amount of water and seasoning into the pot, cook until the meat is rotten, drink the soup and eat the meat. It can treat dry mouth and sore throat after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma, and has the effects of strengthening the spleen and stomach, reducing swelling and detoxification.

2. Chinese Yam and Lotus Seed Soup: 30g Chinese Yam, 30g lotus seeds without core, 30g coix seeds, add appropriate amount of water, simmer over low heat, add a little sugar, take once a day, unlimited amount, take for 15 consecutive days. It is used to treat nasopharyngeal cancer of all stages with spleen deficiency, and has the effects of strengthening spleen and replenishing qi, clearing the heart and calming the mind.

3. Yangjin Drink: 50g each of dried pear and reed root, 25g each of Radix Trichosanthis, Scrophulariae, and Shepherd's Purse, 15g each of Radix Ophiopogonis, Radix Rehmanniae, and Platycodon grandiflorum, and 20g of Chrysanthemum morifolium. Decoction together, remove the residue, and take the juice. Take once a day, divided into 2 doses. It can treat nasopharyngeal cancer patients with fluid deficiency and dry mouth and tongue. It has the effects of nourishing yin, promoting fluid production, cooling blood, and relieving sore throat.

During the illness, you should also pay more attention to your diet to help treatment: if you have chest pain, you should eat horseshoe crab, rapeseed, loofah, kiwi, wheat, and crucian carp; if you have cough and phlegm, you should eat ginkgo, radish, mustard greens, almonds, tangerine peel, monk fruit, peach, orange, grapefruit, etc.; if you have fever, you should eat cucumber, winter melon, bitter melon, lettuce, lemon, olive, mulberry, water chestnut, duck, and herring; if you have hemoptysis, you should eat green plum, lotus root, sugarcane, pear, cotton, yellow croaker, turtle, oyster, and mussels.
