How to check if you have nasopharyngeal cancer

How to check if you have nasopharyngeal cancer?

1. The examination of nasopharyngeal carcinoma is mainly divided into two categories. The first category is imaging examination, and the second category is pathological section testing. Imaging examination mainly involves CT scan of the nasopharynx or MRI of the nasopharynx, which can determine the scope of nasopharyngeal cancer.

2. It is helpful for clinical staging and classification, and also plays a role in setting the target for subsequent radiotherapy. It is an important means for pathological examination to diagnose nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

3. Generally speaking, a nasopharyngeal endoscopy is needed. If cancer is suspected during the nasopharyngeal endoscopy, a pathological section can be taken for testing. After the test, the specific degree of differentiation can be determined, and the type of cancer can be basically determined. Then, imaging examinations are needed to develop a radiotherapy and chemotherapy plan.

4. You can also do a fine needle aspiration cytology FNA examination. FNA is very valuable for the diagnosis of metastatic nasopharyngeal carcinoma. If the cervical lymph nodes are involved, this method can be used to evaluate the primary tumor.

Targeted therapy for recurrent nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Targeted therapy also has a certain effect on the recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Through targeted therapy, the cancer foci can be reduced and the further development of the lesion can be controlled. Of course, some malignant tumors may not achieve the purpose of treatment even after treatment. Even with targeted therapy, the possibility of recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma may still exist.

Therefore, even after targeted treatment, appropriate prevention or regular check-ups are still needed in the later stages, so that more effective treatment can be achieved. Targeted treatment can be used for recurrence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
