Diffuse liver cancer

Liver cancer is a very serious cancer and is often called the king of cancer. Liver cancer is divided into primary and metastatic types. Diffuse liver cancer is a primary cancer. This type of cancer is very malignant and the tumor often has symptoms such as irregular shape and unclear boundaries. Diffuse liver cancer can be treated with surgery, mainly by removing local tumors.

1. What is diffuse liver cancer?

Liver cancer is known as the king of cancer. Liver cancer is divided into primary and metastatic types. Diffuse liver cancer is a type of primary liver cancer. Diffuse liver cancer is also called invasive liver cancer in clinical practice. It is caused by the spread and invasive growth of hepatocellular carcinoma in the anus through the portal vein system. This type of hepatocellular carcinoma lacks a clear boundary with non-cancerous tissue. The tumor is irregular in shape and has no capsule. The cancer foci vary in size and can fuse with each other, and are highly malignant.

2. Is there any hope for advanced diffuse liver cancer?

The current clinical treatment situation is not ideal. The purpose of treatment is mainly to relieve patients' pain and prolong their survival.

There is no consensus on how long the survival period of diffuse liver cancer is. Many factors are involved, including the degree of tumor infiltration, tumor size, tumor diffuseness, patient's liver function status, treatment method, etc. The most critical factor is the correct choice of treatment method.

Because the cancer cells of patients with diffuse liver cancer are spread throughout the liver, surgical resection, as a local treatment method, can only remove local tumors but cannot completely remove the tumor. Therefore, clinical diffuse liver cancer needs to be treated comprehensively with other auxiliary treatment methods after surgery to consolidate the effect of surgical treatment.
