What should be paid attention to in nursing after treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the most common cancers in my country. It is a malignant tumor that occurs in the nasopharyngeal mucosa. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients are often very weak after treatment and need special attention. Will the patient's family be concerned about how to care for the patient after nasopharyngeal carcinoma treatment? What should we pay attention to?

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma refers to a malignant tumor that occurs in the nasopharyngeal mucosa. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is one of the most common malignant tumors in my country, which seriously threatens people's health and life. Most of them are middle-aged and adolescents.

Post-treatment care for nasopharyngeal carcinoma mainly includes three aspects: skin care, oral care, and nasopharyngeal care.

1. Skin care: Patients should keep their skin clean and dry, avoid using alkaline soaps, ointments, and cosmetics, prevent mechanical stimulation, friction, and scratching, and avoid hot compresses. For local itching, peppermint starch can be applied, and for slight exudation or rupture, hydrogen oil can be applied.

2. Oral care: Patients should pay attention to oral hygiene, brush their teeth with a soft toothbrush, cough with normal saline or Dobel's solution, and it is best to brush and rinse your mouth after three meals and before going to bed. Tooth extraction cannot be performed within three years after radiotherapy, otherwise it will cause extensive bone necrosis.

3. Nasopharyngeal care: Patients need to keep the nasopharyngeal cavity clean and clean the nasal cavity every day. They can use 0.25% chloramphenicol eye drops for nasal drops, chloramphenicol solution for throat spray, and spray the oropharynx 2-3 times a day.

In terms of diet, drink more water to moisten your mouth, you can drink some juice, eat liquid and semi-liquid food, and eat some food. Because of oral radiotherapy, the mucosa is easily damaged and oral ulcers are likely to occur.
