What is the reason for the green, yellow and sticky leucorrhea

What is the reason for the green, yellow and sticky leucorrhea

Leucorrhea is a natural secretion from the female vagina, but it is not produced by the vagina. It is secreted from the uterus. It has a very clear texture and a certain viscosity, just like egg white. If the texture of leucorrhea changes, such as becoming green-yellow and sticky, be careful of possible bacterial infection. Different types of leucorrhea should also be judged by what factors?

What causes abnormal color of leucorrhea in women?

The appearance of normal leucorrhea has been introduced: "Normal leucorrhea should be white, thin, paste-like or egg white-like, highly viscous, without fishy smell, and in small amounts. When inflammation of the reproductive tract occurs, especially vaginitis and acute cervicitis, or cancer occurs, the amount of leucorrhea increases significantly and the characteristics change, such as yellow color, smelly smell, blood streaks, etc., and you should be vigilant."

So, what are the different colors of leucorrhea? Pang Zhanjun introduced them to us one by one as follows:

Grayish yellow or yellowish white foamy thin leucorrhea: It is a characteristic of Trichomonas vaginitis and may be accompanied by vulvar itching.

Curd-like or bean curd-like leucorrhea: It is a characteristic of Candida vaginitis, often accompanied by severe vulvar itching or burning pain.

Grayish white, homogeneous leucorrhea with a fishy smell: common in bacterial vaginosis. There is a fishy smell, accompanied by mild itching of the vulva.

Purulent leucorrhea: yellow or yellow-green in color, sticky, and often has a foul odor, caused by bacterial infection. It can be seen in vaginitis, acute cervicitis and endocervicitis. Vaginal or cervical cancer complicated with infection, pyocele or foreign body residue in the vagina can also lead to purulent leucorrhea.

Bloody leucorrhea: There is blood mixed in the leucorrhea, and the amount of blood varies. Cervical cancer, endometrial cancer, cervical polyps, cervical columnar epithelium ectopia with infection or uterine submucosal fibroids should be considered. Insertion of an intrauterine device can also cause bloody leucorrhea.

Watery leucorrhea: Continuous discharge of watery leucorrhea with a strong odor is usually due to advanced cervical cancer, vaginal cancer, or submucosal fibroids with infection. Intermittent discharge of clear, yellow-red or red watery leucorrhea should be considered as a possible cause of fallopian tube cancer.

Will abnormal leucorrhea lead to infertility?

Some women do not take abnormal leucorrhea seriously, while some women worry that abnormal leucorrhea will affect pregnancy and fertility. Generally speaking, mild abnormal leucorrhea does not affect pregnancy, but if the abnormal leucorrhea is caused by vaginitis, cervicitis, etc., the pregnancy rate will be reduced because the inflammatory secretions are not conducive to sperm penetration. Severe abnormal leucorrhea will have a certain impact on pregnancy.

The editor of Family Doctor Online recommends that women with abnormal leucorrhea should get it treated before becoming pregnant, because if vaginitis recurs during pregnancy, pregnant women will feel very uncomfortable, and it is inconvenient to take medication during pregnancy because they have to consider the fetus.

When abnormal vaginal discharge occurs, women should go to the hospital for examination as soon as possible. Some women may not be able to understand the test report of leucorrhea. In fact, the normal Ph of leucorrhea is 3.7-4.5, and the cleanliness is degree I to II. If it is above degree III, it indicates the possibility of vaginitis or cervicitis.
