Is it normal to have tinnitus after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal cancer? What other symptoms may there be?

Is tinnitus normal after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma? What other symptoms are there?

1. The most common symptoms after radiotherapy are tinnitus and deafness. This is because the Eustachian tube is compressed, resulting in blockage of the Eustachian tube. If there is no fever, you don't need to worry about it. After the lump disappears, the symptoms will disappear automatically. Pay attention to more exercise, supplement some fruits and vegetables, arrange your work and rest time reasonably, and eat regularly. If the discomfort is serious, consult the attending physician in time

2. Although radiotherapy has a significant therapeutic effect on nasopharyngeal carcinoma, there are many sequelae after treatment, which are difficult to recover on their own. For example, limited mouth opening is a chronic sequelae. If you do not persist in mouth opening exercises, you will not be able to open your mouth in three years. You can only eat some liquid food. Dry mouth is inevitable after radiotherapy, and dry mouth will not recover on its own. It will accompany the patient for a long time. After being discharged from the hospital, boiling some Chinese medicine to quench thirst will have a certain improvement effect.

3. Chewing saliva alcohol is also an ideal way to relieve dry mouth and recover. Frequently pressing local muscles after radiotherapy can increase blood circulation in the skin surface tissue and prevent muscle fiber tightening and causing muscle atrophy.

4. After radiotherapy, nasopharyngeal carcinoma includes reactions of the skin, mucous membranes and salivary glands, which manifest as dry dermatitis or moist dermatitis. 0.1 anti-inflammatory ointment based on ice talcum powder or lanolin can be used topically. Mucosal reactions manifest as congestion, edema, exudation and accumulation of nasopharyngeal mucosal secretions.
