Can I drink red wine if my uric acid level is high

In life, many people prefer to drink red wine, because everyone thinks that red wine is a drink for high-end occasions, but red wine also contains a certain amount of alcohol. Patients with some diseases cannot drink red wine, such as high uric acid. If uric acid is high, we should stay away from alcohol, and should drink more water and eat fruits to promote metabolism. So, can we drink red wine if our urine sugar is high?

Gout, also known as "hyperuricemia", is a disorder of purine metabolism. When the blood uric acid concentration is too high, uric acid crystals are deposited in the joints, cartilage and kidneys, causing tissue reactions. The causes of gout are mostly related to eating habits, so people often say that gout is a "disease caused by alcohol and meat."

Because alcohol can easily cause lactic acid accumulation in the body, it inhibits the excretion of uric acid and can easily induce gout; therefore, people with high uric acid levels must abstain from alcohol. It is absolutely forbidden to mix beer and seafood. Beer itself contains alcohol, which will affect the excretion of uric acid. In addition, during the oxidation process of alcohol, some substances will be produced that increase uric acid. Seafood contains purine and protein. Large intake of protein will put our body in a slightly acidic environment, which will promote the formation of uric acid crystals.

In addition, if you consume a large amount of seafood in a short period of time, the large amount of purine will cause a sharp increase in uric acid. Although our dietary factors only account for 10% to 20% of uric acid, eating a large amount of seafood in a short period of time will cause a sharp increase in uric acid, and drinking alcohol will affect excretion. There is no limit on coffee and tea, but drinking plenty of water can promote uric acid excretion and prevent uric acid stones.

You can control your diet, eat more alkaline foods low in "purine", such as fruits, and vegetables, and less acidic foods such as meat and fish. Eat a light, low-fat, and low-sugar diet, and drink plenty of water to facilitate the excretion of uric acid in the body.
